TN Gun Bills 2024: SB 1927 & SB 1966.

I am way behind with what is being “offered” in our legislature in terms of Gun Legislation and so far, it is not good news.

Let’s begin with SB 1927 by Senator Raumesh Akbari (D):

As introduced, permits the largest municipality in Shelby, Davidson, Knox, or Hamilton county to regulate the manner of storage of firearms, firearm ammunition, and firearm accessories by ordinance, resolution, policy, rule, or other enactment. –

In other words, it is the elimination of State Preemption of gun laws. You know they will go draconian and demand guns to be locked and disassembled before being put inside a double combination safe or some stupid stuff like that or demanding that you could only have 50 rounds of ammunition stashed in a vault at a local gun club or gun store. And yes, this would run head on against Heller, but that will take time and money and the antis get to claim victory.

Next is SB 1966 by Senator Jeff Yarbro (D):

As introduced, creates the Tennessee Do Not Sell List; requires the Tennessee bureau of investigation to develop and launch a secure internet-based platform to allow any person in the United States to register to add the person’s own name to the Tennessee Do Not Sell List by January 1, 2025

I have read a bit about individuals with personal issues willingly depositing their firearms with a trusted third party and even volunteering the state to have their names added to a no-sell list and I have no initial issues with it.  But a website to add names to a No Sell list? The probability of being misused by activists or pissed off spouses or anybody with a grudge against somebody is just too big. And that is truly the goal here: Not to save lives but to make it miserable for the common folk.

More to come.

Trump’s VP ?

Trump needs a VP that can help him win and with his presidency, so let’s check the choices.

Vivek Ramaswamy: As the joke goes around, he is slated to run the White House’s 7/11, but I don’t see him pulling votes in.

Ron DeSantis: Any Democrat leader not too stupid would fear DeSantis as VP. He pretty much made mincemeat of the Democratic Party of Florida. Injected some spine to the legislature (Needs more) and is much better than Trump when it comes to destroy a Lefty Media attacking him. This comes handy for Trump because the Dems would rather have him as a bamboozled GOP version of Biden than actually remove him as President and make De Santis POTUS. DeSantis as VP will lower the risk of removing Trump from office.

Nicky Haley: The female John McCain by the gushing coming out of CNN. Need I say more? That means Democrats will pursue even harder lawsuits and indictments against Trump.

So, my prediction is: Trump will select Nicky Haley as VP.

PS: Also selecting DeSantis may help bring people like me to the voting booth rather than stay at home. Maybe enough votes to overcome the margin of cheating.

Getting the hang of this winter crap.

We had accumulated enough kitchen garbage, so the wife sent me to take it to the convenience center. Our road had been salted/brined and is in pretty good shape to drive, even at the 10 degrees we were having. And then I got to the road to the dump.

I am gonna say there was about an inch and a half of solid frigging ice.

And since our vehicle is a front wheel drive, I can say it was a nice butt-tightening ride there for a while. But my old off-roading experience finally processed this as a very-frigging-slippery layer of mud and I applied acquired knowledge with the new input to keep me “safe.”

I realized I can deal with ice, but dealing with dumbasses also driving in the ice near you is another matter. I actually had one idiot tailgating me as it was the funniest shit in the world because he had a raised pick up truck… which was not 4×4.

Morons everywhere.

Dear New Yorkers, soon you will be on your own and disarmed.

Article from Nov 25, 2023

A total of 2,516 NYPD cops have left so far this year, the fourth highest number in the past decade and 43% more than the 1,750 who hightailed it in 2018, before the pandemic and crime spikes hit the city, NYPD pension data show.

The weary officer said the workload at the whittled down NYPD is already crushing cops, and things will decline further now that the city put the kibosh on the next five Police Academy classes, as part of planned budget cuts announced by Mayor Adams on Nov. 16.

The drastic cuts will reduce the department to just 29,000 cops by the end of fiscal year 2025.

NYPD is supposed to be running with at least 35,000 officers so they will 6,000 under and I firmly believe that is wishful thinking.

Now add this morsel of fun:

The driver who struck a policeman at a Manhattan crime scene told authorities it was intentional, adding, “F–k these cops, it’s a lesson to him,’’ sources said Friday — with the mow-down caught on shocking video.

Sahara Dula — a 24-year-old Brooklynite whose lawyer said mentors kids to stay off drugs — was driving her black Lexus the wrong way on the Upper East Side while high on marijuana Wednesday when she barreled into the NYPD officer, officials and sources said.

Dula was charged with first-degree attempted assault, attempted aggravated assault upon a police officer, second-degree assault, second-degree reckless endangerment and operating a vehicle while ability impaired by drugs and reckless driving, according to the criminal complaint.

So she is being held without bail or a very high one, right?

Shephard —  who called Dula’s alleged actions “egregious” — asked that she be held on $100,000 bail, but Judge John Zhuo Wang set bail at $25,000. The suspect did not immediately make bail.

Not even charged with attempted murder? D.A. gives her a break and then the judge gives her another break? I am not knowledgeable of the bail system in NYC, but I figure she or a bail bonds place has to pony up 10% to get her out of graybar residence and walk the streets as a champion who stood against the fascist police.

I believe that rather than 6,000, they will probably lose 2,000 more and I am being generous. As a cop, I wouldn’t be where is open season on my ass and pretty much blessed by the powers that be.

Whatever is coming to the Big Apple, they have it coming and well deserved. You won’t have an effective police force and nothing effective to use to defend yourselves.

Enjoy.

No right to Personal Property.

This is a lawyer.

Forget the Second Amendment and anything else: He is plainly stating that there is no right to possess an item. Anything you may “own” is only by the grace of almighty Government to give you that privilege and that can be removed at any time.

And that is why we have a Second Amendment.

We are living in a great era for training. Unfortunately, we are also plagued with tactical gimmick BS.
