And the missus is happy that all the books that were peppering the living room are now properly gathered in a fitting vessel. Most of the books fit the shelf height, except some that were coffee table size. Those were placed a top of the case.
Due to our flooring I had to shimmy the bookcase so it would stop wiggling. One change already thought is making the base the full 12 inches rather than just the 10 inches of the side boards for increased stability.
In other times, I would have laughed at myself and comment that I would have that filled before Labor Day, probably earlier. But I have become much more selective on my reading and even ditching some books I did not care for in after reading them (I donate them to the local library) So I feel I will not fill this sucker as fast. Worse case scenario, I get to make sawdust again for fun.
Bookshelf looks great! Love the side table!
That table has a nice story of its own I have to share soon. I am late as it is today
That bookcase looks amazing. I need to inlet mine on the bottom to fit over the baseboard radiators so I’ll be using 12″ side boards and a taller kickspace on the bottom. And since I have young children in the house it’ll have to be secured to the wall.
Well done (whatever it takes to make the missus happy)
Another solution: https://www.amazon.com/Nail-Felt-Pads-X-PROTECTOR-Protectors/dp/B08JH3LCP5/
They nail in (you can find some that screw in, too) instead of having to deal with a sticky strip, so they don’t come off if you have to move it. And add just enough clearance to not get high-centered on slightly-uneven floors.
Looks nice. Room for expansion as well,
The missus views that as a threat 😀
