Citrus County Fire Rescue told the Citrus County Chronicle that the driver of the Hummer had just filled five-gallon cans with fuel at a local gas station before the fire broke out.

We should have had the CIA, DIA, NSA, and every other alphabet soup org find these fuckers, sent in the SEALs to bring back bodies, and hung their corpses from the tanks at a Colonial Pipeline storage farm as a warning to others.

Instead we paid the ransom.

This moving thing is a pain in the general sitting area and when it is not sucking up my time, I am too tired to think somewhat coherently.

So, we have a lot of stuff packed already. Boxes properly coded on what is what  and a secret list kept in a safe location. (Big notebook and two electronic documents… wait, three.)

Lots of stuff donated and already picked up which has given us space to move around and play a little bit of Tetris with the remaining items. We are actually almost down to just the basics of what we need to use every day. Even the side freezer should be unplugged this weekend as we have gone through the contents and moved the rest to the kitchen refrigerator.  And that would become another item ready for donation.

For the past week and a half, I started to take care of the outside of the house. The front needs a good wash and fix a couple of cracks decorative cracks to be ready. The front “lawn” is a mess of dry grass and patches of dirt that we never care much for since the utilities kept digging and making a mess because the job was not done right the first time. Also the HOA is responsible for its maintenance (you can stop laughing now) and mom was truly the one patient enough to deal with it. I have a trick up the sleeve, but I’ll share later.

The biggest selling point of the house is no doubt the lake which makes the back porch a must to fix and clean. You saw in past post the exposed deck being stained/painted, but I had not had the chance to do the covered part till now.

I just finished clearing all the crap we had accumulated, moved the furniture, removed a couple things from the wall and I am ready to pressure wash the dickens out of everything.  Roof will go white same as the columns and the floor will go with that reddish color the missus chose for the exposed deck. Some small repairs were done as I saw them and I figure I am not done yet. The hardest part is to think not in term of overengineering the fix, but to remember I am doing mostly a good make up job on something that it is in great condition. Do not aim for the cover of Better Homes and Gardens.

I am gonna do early lunch, rest some and get started.

US Coast Guard shuts part of lower Mississippi River as bridge crack

More than 400 barges were delayed on the lower Mississippi River on Wednesday after a bridge crack prompted the U.S. Coast Guard to halt vessel traffic on a portion of the waterway crucial for shipping crops to export markets.

The Coast Guard stopped all traffic on the Mississippi River near Memphis – between mile markers 736 and 737 – after a crack was discovered in the Hernando de Soto Bridge that spans the river, according to a statement.

There were 12 vessels with 157 barges in the queue to pass northbound and 16 vessels with 254 barges in the queue to go southbound, Lieutenant Mark Pipkin, a Coast Guard spokesman, told Reuters. The barges are carrying a mix of materials including crude oil and dry cargo like corn or rocks, he said.

The bridge carries I-40 over the Mississippi River from Memphis, Tennessee, to West Memphis, Arkansas.

Almost all grain barges must pass underneath the bridge on their way to Gulf of Mexico export facilities near New Orleans after being loaded along the upper Mississippi, Ohio, Illinois or Missouri rivers, according to the Soy Transportation Coalition, an agricultural industry group.

“It is reasonable to assume hundreds of barges of U.S. grain will be negatively impacted by the closure depending on its duration.”

It is not an exaggeration to say this is the American Midwestern equivalent of the shutdown of the Suez Canal.

You haven’t hear a peep about this from the Biden Administration because it’s affecting Midwestern farmers in flyover county.

Also, a bridge over the Mississippi River on one of America’s primary interstates that also crosses America’s primary inland navigable waterways is not infrastructure compared to universal daycare or some other welfare program.

Being the cynical fucker that I am, the governors of Tennessee and Arkansas should issue a joint EO renaming the bridge the “Black Lives Matter and BIPOC PRIDE bridge” to get Biden to rush in and repair it.

This nation is really being run by people who hate it and want to see it fall apart.

I love how they are surprised this could be happen to them in Liberal, party-going South Beach and not at a Klan Rally as they expected.
