The few unlucky people that have been instructed by me, receive several mantras and the first one is: The first casualty of carrying concealed is the Ego.  When you decide to have a gun with you and to travel outside your home, you will learn to endure the verbal “slings and arrows” and that they are not there to right wrongs, defend maidens’ honors soiled by a mouthy sailor or to stop any petty (or major) crime in progress that offends your sense of order in society. In most localities you are not allowed to defend property and I do not recall one state where you are allowed to pursue and use deadly force against anybody once the crime has ceased.

We have this case in Detroit where a home owner, Tigh Croff, arrived home to find it being broken into and now he is facing hard time for chasing down and killing one of the perps. It was the third time that his house had been broken in during the same week and I am guessing he was incensed like anybody else would be. But he had a gun and an unchecked ego:

“He turned around and looked dumb. He had that ‘mercy’ look,” Croff told police after the shooting, per Detroit Police Sgt. Gary Diaz. “I told him he was gonna die, and I shot him.”

Ego, just like alcohol, does not combine well with firearms. Words don’t hurt, gang rape in the local house of detention does.

Few things can incite a revolution in South Florida like trying to cut alcohol consumption during a hurricane. Even though there are laws in place to ban the sell of booze during one, politicians know better than apply it since the only thing it will do would be to distract police resources and piss people off for no reason. If there is a place where chugging a beer while listening to the wind blow the roofs go hand in hand is Key West where hurricane parties are not only a tradition but a Conch Republic right.

And yes, shit happens to drunk people before, during and after hurricanes, but that is their problem. We had our very insignificant share of idiots who have decided to take a drunk drive while the winds are over 75 mph and disappear, only to be found a couple of years later in one of the many canals still wearing their vehicles. That is Darwin applied plain and simple. The majority of the partiers do so in secured locations be it be a home or the storm-reinforced bars that populate Monroe County so basically there is no problem.

Enter Craig Marston, division chief of emergency management and training at the Key West Fire Department. According to him, Key West People are too dumb to know what to do or to drink responsibly and wants to ban alcohol if a hurricane is headed that way because:

“We have to protect ourselves from ourselves,”

I am sorry Chief, who the blazes are you to issue such a condescending statement like that? Do me a favor and shut the hell up. We will call you only if and we need you. And you better be ready to answer to the calls and not engaged in creating social engineering plans for the better future of Eurasia.

Louisiana’s Catholic bishops have decided that Gun Owners that have a Concealed Weapons Permit cannot attend Mass if they have their sidearm with them By hiding behind the law, Louisiana’s Catholics who believe in the defense of their lives and the lives of their family and friends are barred entrance to the churches. Priest molesting kids are still allowed.

“We don’t think it is appropriate to have guns in churches,” said Danny Loar, executive director of the Louisiana Conference of Catholic Bishops.

Neither do criminals. But how does the  Louisiana’s Catholic bishops reconcile their decision against the Catechism of the Catholic Church?

Love toward oneself remains a fundamental principle of morality. Therefore it is legitimate to insist on respect for one’s own right to life. Someone who defends his life is not guilty of murder even if he is forced to deal his aggressor a lethal blow. (Catechism of the Catholic Church)

The Weasels in Purple (Bishops for those who are catholic impaired) have no qualms in tossing the basic tenets of the Catholic Church aside. We’re the Flock but some of us are not sheep. It is NOT against the doctrine of the Holy Church to have guns or defend ourselves even many a priest keep trying to sell the concept of Victim as Morally  Superior.

Legitimate defense can be not only a right but a grave duty for one who is responsible for the lives of others. The defense of the common good requires that an unjust aggressor be rendered unable to cause harm. (Catechism of the Catholic Church)

As a Catholic, I keep myself reminding that the Church is bigger that any of those morons in colorful cassocks, but I do wish Archangel Michael would come down and do a a number on these pederast-friendly, demonic assholes that seem to be running our church.

UPDATE: Sharp as a Marble wrongly brings out the point of Private Property. Although he has a point from the “legal” standpoint, the edifice does not belong to whatever corporation/LLC or whatever legal entity it might be registered, it is still the House of God where all of His Children have the Divine Right to come in and worship. Nowhere in the Bible or Catechism it says you have to meet certain criteria imposed by a mortal in order to gain entrance in the church. The worst of Sinners can come in, partake of Mass, seek redemption and be with God. No religion is set aside; you can be a Protestant, Muslim, Jew, Animist or no religion at all and still are welcome. Yet the Weasels in Purple say that I am not allowed to go inside carrying my pistol and treat me like I am the Anti Christ to legally cover their NAMBLA asses?

Tom Gresham was invited to a radio show called Friendly Fire with hosts Clarke and Nancy on KSAL 1150AM. The theme was Gun Control and I am guessing Tom was invited to share his view on the matter. Host Nancy is an unapologetic Anti Gun but I must say Tom, very politely, just destroyed each and every point/falsehood she tried to bring. He never conceded or tried to answer a question under the premise she gave but corrected or challenged it being my special favorites of mine were ‘Assault Weapon’ at the beginning of the show and ‘trigger lock’ almost at the end.

Of course Tom Gresham has the ability that comes with 40 years around guns and fighting the system that wants to ban them. The show was was like watching a an unassuming master in any martial art teacha lesson to an unprepared brat, clean the floors and windows with his sorry self and still leave him some dignity to feel shame realize that he was way way wrong.

Besides a police station, the safest place in America on April 19 would likely have been any of the numerous Patriot’s Day rallies held around the country where thousands of people, many carrying firearms, celebrated the opening shots in America’s war for independence.

Still the Mainstream Media Morons fail to recognize that. By their narrative it is the Left Wingers the ones peaceful and all loving…just like the ones in Montreal during the G20 meeting.

NRA delenda est! The die is cast and I must bow to the wishes of the loudest and cast aspersions against the NRA wishing its demise… OK, fat chance on that!

There is no doubt that the NRA flubbed the PR war with DISCLOSE and that allowed other “Pro 2A” gun groups to attack the organization with full force. Amazingly all that angst about DISCLOSE did not create an organized attack against Democrats in Congress or the bill itself so time is being wasted in crap that has no real use.

I know that idealistic niceties are cute, pink and make bunnies happy, but Political Reality is trench warfare and not quite rose -smelling. Yes all the Constitution is important and yes this bill is bad but this bill has about 90% of passing specially since there has been so little effort by most Americans in defeating it in vitro. The Health Care Bill had the opposition of almost 70% of the country yet it was rammed through and shoved down our throats. Political virgins seem to ignore that but do have the balls to act offended when the NRA, after almost 8 years, millions of dollars spent and almost no help manages to get an exclusion from being shut out of the political discussion. Political Virgins are now offended by this alleged breach of etiquette and idealism against the Constitution but we are talking about the same group that probably believes that good guys only get shoulder wounds that heal in 24 hours, that you can reason with idiots and they will see the light if you show them a copy of the Constitution and bad guys always wear a black hat so you can recognize them.

So what’s next? First, I am sure this major tiff amongst gun owners has not gone unnoticed in the White House and the Anti Gun community and I can bet that plans are already in the making to take advantage of the rift. The chance of bringing down the NRA from inside the gun rights movement is just too good to pass up and they just need a little bit of cash piped to a certain people to make the dream of a Gun Free USA possible.

WINNERS:

The Democratic Party. Gun owners were having so much a good time bashing the NRA that they ignored the DISCLOSE bill itself. It is slated for vote on Tuesday and chances are huge it will pass with or without the NRA exemption. Political speech will be once more tamed to give the Obama administration and Dems in Congress a fighting chance come November.

Gun Owners of America. The premier bunch of No Compromise / Nothing Done and alleged supporters of the Second Amendment will gain thousands of new supporters and millions in cash contributions and a lot from unknown sources.  GOA will be an important part of the manipulated collapsing of the NRA. They will be singled out as the Better Voice/True Constitutional/We Are The World group, given a couple of victories and then dropped once the NRA’s influence is gone. GOA never had and never will have the lobbying ability the NRA has but they will be a convenient tool for the anti gunners in its disarming.

LOSERS

The NRA. By failing to take care of the public Relations side of DISCLOSE and being too damn nice to GOA and assorted jealous idiots, the NRA shot itself in the foot on this one. Expect them to lose about a million members within a year and a half to two years.

NRA Members. By ignoring the darn little email notifications, paying more attention  to the latest reality show and then bitch supreme after they heard about the “carve out” the NRA Members will lose political power in Washington that may take decades to recover.  Those leaving and gambling on GOA will probably find themselves rectally invaded later down the pike.

Non-NRA Gun Owners. By the time they wake up, it will be too late to make corrections. Groups without any political or lobbying ability will be representing all of us and fail miserably at it when their magic funding suddenly disappears and are unable to get any more money or support.

FORECAST

If the onslaught against the NRA continues, it will cease to exist as an effective political force by November 2012. GOA will think it will assume the space occupied by the NRA but will be ignored by the DC insiders since it won’t be able to fit its shoes and the downright rabid opposition by  NRA members. Anti Gun legislation will start coming out again from Congress and by  2020 we will be back to 1968 levels of gun restrictions. Expect a Federal Anti Reciprocity Bill under the cover of the Commerce Clause plus Federal Fund restrictions to be one of the first measures to curtail gun ownership across the USA.

UPDATE:

Gun Rights Examiner informs that DISCLOSE passed in the House. I am reading the text of the bill but cannot find the “carve out” anywhere. I might not be reading it right (I suck at legalese bullshit) and I hope I am not otherwise we are pretty much screwed. It also seems that internet communications (read Bloggers) may have to keep quiet or face penalties. I’ll leave the analysis to better brains.
