Nearly 10,000 people in the Chicago area have applied to carry a concealed handgun in public, according to the first regional numbers released by the Illinois State Police.

Cook County received more concealed carry licenses applications than Dupage, Lake, McHenry and Kane counties combined since Jan. 5, when applications became available under the new law. As a state, Illinois received more than 23,000 applications.

via Demand for concealed carry keeps growing in suburbs – DailyHerald.com.

Almost 10,000 permit applications in about 2 weeks. For comparison purposes, Chicago PD has around 12,000 people in its roster. That means by the end of the month, there will be easily more who applied for a license than cops on the streets.

And then wait till the actual number of Licensees surpasses the number of cops.

  1. If I still lived in Crook County, I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for my CCW to get approved. Emanuel, Madigan, Quinn, etc. are all going to do what they can to make it difficult to impossible for law abiding citizens to protect themselves.
