Insane? No so much if you consider past behavior from left-leaning groups and unions. The following pic is an example of why laws and ordinances like that are passed:
That is from a Longshoremen protest in Portland back in 2011. If I recall, anarchist marches and other similar idiots tend to pull that kind of stunts and then using the “holders” to create havoc and destruction of private property. Anyway, I find it kinda stupid, specially when it is attached to a bunch of scaredy cats that puke & pass out at the sight of a Glock logo.
But why not ban guns? Well, maybe because there have been no incidents when gun owners march? As in “They behave according to the law, are polite and friendly”? That kind of thing goes a long way, you know?
And the comments from the Luddites are just precious:
Karen Derus Durling Right-wing stinkin’ thinkin’ at its finest!
Rory Lane Shows how backwards thinking the pro – gun folks are
Steve Nolan If only they defended the 1st the way they defend their warped idea of the 2nd
Peter Read The staffs of hand-sized American flags were problematic. AR-15s were not. As a veteran I don’t know what to make of that.
EM Clark Get rid of Fox News. I am a Republican, but as long as people like Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin and Fox News are allowed to proliferate, this will happen. Big money maker and Rupert and Limbaugh and those guys are not practitioners. How come Palins two eldest kids can get away with having an illegitimate brat and nearly illegitimate brat outside of wedlock but you can’t. They are just making money on this. Also Doomsday Preppers. You would think Ahmedinajab was over here. If it is walking back, let it walk back safely.
Charlotte Rowe Not insane. Very deliberately planned to favor the gunfucks.
Jack Parker Does Terry McAuliffe have anything to say about this? I thought the last election signaled a major shift in VA politics.
Some of the comments left clearly show why the police thought there was potential for violence. If you watch some of Ladd Everitt’s speeches, he’s got some serious anger management issues.
Dear CSGV: Did any of you get shot?
No? Then clearly the guns were not a problem.
Last Year, at this event, the cops had mounted cops and K-9s. Standing there with a 9mm on my hip, I asked one if they thought we were so dangerous. He said “No, we know you won’t be a problem. We are here for the other idiots. Whatcha carrying?” Me, “Sig P239 in 9mm.” Cop, “Sweet!”
[…] is not happy that they can’t use signs with sticks at a protest. Because when you add that feature, it becomes assault […]
That “EM Clark” sounds like a real winner. Certainly a life-long Republican — who hates Republicans and hates people on a reality TV show.
For what it’s worth, I was one of approximately 400 or so VCDL members that showed up for the annual MLK day rally. No one was shot, no one was threatened (unless you happen to be a member of CSGV, MDM, or others that get an attack of the vapors at the mere sight of a firearm). Yes, they had troopers on foot and on bikes (didn’t see any mounted this year, but I didn’t look too closely either), but they always do. Had a polite conversation, in fact, with several of the troopers – no acrimony, raised voices, threats, etc. Amazing, is it not, that such a concentration of firearms IN THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY BUILDING, NO LESS!!!!! resulted in not a single incident?
Bill, No one was impelled to shoot anyone randomly or in a fit of rage? Obviously all of the guns there were defective, what are the odds?
😉
I was there. Perfectly peaceful. Our guns must be defective.

I haven’t watched the whole thing…the only interesting people are the two gun activists….. 🙂
Apparently, I’m now an official “gun activist” because I was interviewed and used 5 seconds of about two minutes.
I’m the guy in the green fedora.
And may I say you looked dashing!
Good job!
Thanks. I owe all to my fans.
oh my. got to love the rank stupidity of the gun control advocates.
Volfram — your internets are in the mail.
Also relavant that Virginia has a HISTORY of “protestors” using clubs with signs attached to them in violent attacks on law abiding citizens and the police. From the union actions (mostly in coal country) in the early 20th Century.
