LOL, if you freeze up on the bottom one, it’d DEFINITELY be the last one… 😉 And those Ferraris aren’t all they are cracked up to be…
I always loved the 308 GTB. It might not be the best that Enzo designed, but it has a place in my lust.
The Coliseum is cool, but a few hours south of Rome is Capua’s amphitheater — it’s smaller, but more intact and, apparently not well-known. You can walk on the field, at the level the combatants would have, and can walk through the tunnels beneath the field. Enough of the decoration remains to give you a sense of what it would have looked like — there’s even a partial set of the anchor stone for the awnings. A small museum on the site has a section of the stands rebuilt from the original marble, too. And out from beneath the parking lot pokes the foundations of their earlier amphitheater, which I believe would have been the place you could see some guy named Spartacus fight.
At Thermopylae, be careful. I’ve heard there are two monuments — one near the highway, and the original one.
I spent some of my time in the Marines as a radio operator in a artillery unit. It’s not all that. In fact, it’s a lot of hard work. Those shells we used (155mm) were damn heavy, plus the fact we were in the desert. Nothing like toting those things, plus the powder bags when the temp is over 100.
