From the Miami Herald:
On the anniversary of a coup, desperate Venezuelans demand change
If Venezuela’s opposition was looking for a provocative day to hold a protest, they couldn’t have done much better than Wednesday.
Jan. 23 marks the 61st anniversary of the military uprising that toppled dictator Gen. Marcos Pérez Jiménez. And while history might not repeat itself this week, there are those who believe that Wednesday’s protests could be a turning point for the presidency of Nicolás Maduro.
So big stuff is happening in Venezuela.
Vice President Mike Pence is going to be doing something about it.
As the good people of Venezuela make your voices heard tomorrow, on behalf of the American people, we say: estamos con ustedes. We are with you. We stand with you, and we will stay with you until Democracy is restored and you reclaim your birthright of Libertad. pic.twitter.com/ThzIAqBoRn

So is former Governor and Senator from Florida, Rick Scott.
I’ll be meeting with the President today on the atrocities caused by Maduro and his gang of thugs in Venezuela.
As governor, I championed legislation to go after Maduro and today I am asking the President to add Venezuela to the list of state sponsors of terror.

Senator Marco Rubio is also lending his weight into this.
Whether or not it will accomplish anything is yet to be seen (and I have a feeling Miguel will say it won’t).
What is note worthy is that going through the Twitter feed of AOC and every other Democrat with an iota of a tie to the Hispanic community has been dead silent on the topic.
All the human rights abuses and starvation on record and all they are talking about is privileged white Catholic boys, global warming, and the immorality of letting people keep their own money.
I don’t mind “Thoughts and Prayers” from the Government, but unless Venezuelans learn to stay the hell away from Strongmen and Socialism, whatever effort put in the country will be wasted in 20 years.
Right now, they are only looking to switch dictators. One with a bag of food will be fine according to them.
And if things ever get decent, then they will vote for Chavez 3.0
“…unless Venezuelans learn to stay the hell away from Strongmen and Socialism, whatever effort put in the country will be wasted in 20 years.”
Sad but true. Just look at Nicaragua.
Daniel Ortega for president? Brilliant! Let’s put back in power the former murderous tyrant of our country back in power. Capital idea!! /sarc
“Deafening silence on Social Media”
That’s them progtards trying to figure out how to twist this to fit their commie agenda. Give ’em time and soon you’ll start seeing twatters bitching about imperialist aggressions of the U.S. against poor lil’ Venezuela.
“The Socialist regime in Venezuela teeters on the edge tonight.
The people are out on the streets protesting the brutal and corrupt Marxist Maduro regime.”

Curioser and curiouser.
