Not to be nitpicking… OK I am. I might be in the minority, but if it is still about a quarter till Five in the afternoon and there is plenty daylight on a Spring day, you just can’t truthfully call it Evening.
Was it on purpose? Probably not. I bet they wanted to be all Tara and Gone With the Wind, Midnight In the Garden Of Good and Evil highfalutin crap (no mint juleps visible though) so writing evening has more refinement and came out automatically… because deceit with moving goalposts is their default mode.

No, I am not conceding that Evening is that much of a flexible term. It is common and proper use to consider evening beginning at 6:00 pm and specially so when sunset did not happen till past 8:00 pm.
Around here (Kentucky) lots of folks refer to afternoon as evening. Frankly, this is a silly issue to make when there are a whole lot more serious issues than this with those folks. Makinig fun of them going “toe to toe” with the NRA from a mile away isn’t silly.
Debating over “evening” is exactly the same as pop/soda, dinner/lunch and cut/mow.
There’s a lot of regional variations in American English.
You need at least dusk to call evening… that is full bright sun.. Of course they can go ahead and call noon whereabouts of 4 am because that is how they roll.
I have to agree this is trivial.
Where nomenclature matters are their made up terms of “assault weapons” and “high capacity magazines” and their deliberate ignorance and intentional confusion and conflation between semi-automatic, automatic, and select fire.
The best is their rebranding as “gun safety” groups while they do not offer a single class or educational program on safe handling or manual of arms and likely do not know the Four Rules of gun safety.
So the assertion they are liars and very deceptive bastards remains true, but the name for time of day is not really good evidence of their duplicity.
