General Bill by Jacquet
Concealed Weapons or Concealed Firearms Licensing: Requires applicant to have undergone mental health evaluation & been determined to be competent or provide letter from specified profession as to competency.
Effective Date: July 1, 2020

You figure after  30 years of proving, day in and day out, that Concealed Carriers are the most stable and law abiding citizens in Florida, they would stop harassing us. Nope, they still hate the fact we exist and that we carry among them.

You know what I would like to see? All these restrictions that they still want to apply to Concealed Carriers to be mandatory for those seeking public office.

  1. You have to wonder why they are afraid of concealed carry license holders.

You know, people who are perhaps the most law-abiding group, who respect the law and … Oh.

  2. Sure, so long as we get an amendment requiring a mental health evaluation of the legislator proposing the bill.

  3. Do we get to find out if the evaluator is an anti-gun zealot before we go to them for the required evaluation? It strikes me that there are some (many?) psycharitrists or psychologists that think that if you want a concealed carry permit, you must be crazy.

  4. psych tests before exercising any other specifically enumerated rights? Say, “unreasonable search and seizure”? “So, Mr. McFee, you do not want us to wander through your house/car/papers/computer files? That sounds sort of unhinged, to me! Howzabout you talk to our friend, Dr. Mengele, here, and let him evaluate your metal state? Oh, and while you two are talking, my friends and I will simply stroll around (insert subject property, here)….”

  5. So the psychiatrists who all swear up and down with their hand on the DSM that Trump is mentally unfit, even though they have never talked to him, get to sign off on our gun rights… yeah… no.

  6. Remember people, this is stupid season. All of the legislatures are back from summer vacation ready to propose more stupid bills doing more stupid stuff.

Make your calls to your state representatives. Make your calls to your US Senators and Representative.

Mine are in my contact list. They get a call at least once per month during silly season.

I called yesterday. Have you called yours?

  7. What we need is a rider on that bill…. add a part where a mw tal health chech is required to vote. See how far that flies.

  8. I agree. Have a friendly lawmaker add a few amendments.

—Every lawmaker must undergo the same evaluation before He/She takes the oath of office for every term

—Ditto every elected and appointed executive branch officer for each term.

—Every judge must also be evaluated every six years.

These are reasonable and commonsense good governance laws!
