Chiappa PAK 9. AK based in 9mm and it runs with Beretta or Glock mags.
Good news? The price is right.
It weighs 6 pounds and it is under 14 inches long. Add a low profile red dot(Check TruGlo’s red dots), mags aplenty and a good lock box and you have a lot of firepower rolling around with you.
Another gun for the Florida Lotto List.
Why? While it may look cool, what does this get me that a duty sized 9mm pistol, say a Glock 17 or similar weapon, would’t? It appears to be less reliable, heavier, and has no ammunition capacity advantage. Given the barrel length (from the bolt face to the end of the barrel can’t be more than 5-6 inches) it’s not going to be any more accurate, or produce any more velocity.
If you want a carbine, or a sorta carbine, you’d be better off to get the mechtech 9mm carbine adapter and put it on a Glock frame. Not much difference in price either.
It’s a toy. And an unreliable one at that.
found the Glock fanboy.
Don’t actually own a Glock. I’m a 1911 guy – Glocks have no soul.
But I know a gimmick when I see one.
I’m neither a Glock or 1911 fanboy and I agree, a gimmick gun. They’re recreated the dubious Tech 9 using an AK platform for “gee whiz” appeal.
Arm brace did not exist back during Tec 9 times 😉
You use the words “less reliable” to address an AK platform. I think by now one thing everybody should know is that AKs (Even those built by US companies that hire drunken monkeys) are reliable.
Not so much, Go check out AK Operator’s Union 4774’s reviews ( http://www.akoperatorsunionlocal4774.com/blog/ ) . There’s nothing magical about the AK design, and a cheapass manufacturer with bad QA/QC can make one as unreliable as you wish.
Remember, this is brought to you by Chiappa… manufacturers of the Incredible Exploding Rhino.
And yeah- what exactly can this do that a G17 can’t? Aside from take lengthened or threaded barrels with no/minimal modification, have a few hundred holsters of all sorts already in production for it, have God’s own deep bench aftermarket, and have an almost-forty-year track record of actual field use?
Seriously if they had make this in a carbine format, it’d be giving the other 9mm carbines a run for their money. But if I am gonna buy a cut-down-rifle pistol, I’m going to buy either an AK pistol in actual 7.62x39mm, or an AR pistol in .223, and have the fun of throwing an actual rifle round downrange.
“what exactly can this do that a G17 can’t?”
Look badass.
*mic drop*
If by “badass” you mean “stupid”, then yes. I prefer my version of ” badass” to have connotations of “works reliably”.
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing.
