“Who denounced you?’ said Winston. ‘It was my little daughter,’ said Parsons with a sort of doleful pride. ‘She listened at the keyhole. Heard what I was saying, and nipped off to the patrols the very next day. Pretty smart for a nipper of seven, eh?”
1984 – George Orwell.

A Massachusetts landlord told a Harvard University graduate student that he wanted her to move out of her apartment because her legally owned firearms made some of her roommates uncomfortable…
Pirnie said she feels her roommates violated her privacy and now they and her landlord are trying to violate her rights.
“A few weeks ago, I came back to my apartment from a weekend trip and was confronted by one of my roommates who asked if I had guns in the house,” she told the Free Beacon. “After being told far too many lies to count, my roommates finally admitted that they searched my closet, under my bed, and all of my drawers in pursuit of finding my guns.”

Landlord Tells Harvard Student to Move Out Over Legally Owned Guns

Have you noticed that the Left does not fear the application of “Snitches Get Stitches” from Gun owners even though we have a reputation for violence?  But I think it was not the guns that they are afraid of but just hate her for one reason:

“When I asked them why they were in my room to begin with, they each came up with completely contradicting stories (none of which made any sense), but one comment struck me in particular: ‘We saw that you had a MAGA hat and come on, you’re from Alabama… so we just kind of assumed that you had something,'”

She had a MAGA hat so she had to be expunged from the surroundings. It does not make sense actually get somebody who owns guns and you allegedly fear may do something violent , denounced and telling her she need to go because guns.

They simply hated her because of the hat and the guns were just an excuse to ostracize her.

  1. At least she’ll get – hopefully – a better class of roommates. After this I certainly wouldn’t want to continue to share living space with them. Zero trust, even less respect.

  2. She might consider posting a notice in the school newspaper that these people (who will soon be looking for a new roommate!) are “Snoops and Liars and are NOT to be Trusted!” She might also consider a lawsuit for breaking and entering, and –hmm- – did they Steal Something? Maybe…….?

  3. Same thing happened to me in college, sorta. It was a weird setup, but you rented a bedroom and not an apartment. The apartment complex put a couple of suburban drug dealers in with me and I complained. In response the apartment complex evicted me for having a 10/22 because it made my drug dealing roommates nervous. This was slightly before the internet was a thing and I was only 18 so I didn’t know how to fight it.

  4. Here is the interesting part. They know that they cannot evict her, so instead they told her that if she doesn’t voluntarily move out they will allow the roommates to move out, and the gun owner would be responsible for the entire $6,000 per month in rent.
The gun owner could sue the roommates, but she is a college student and probably doesn’t have the resources to fight.

  5. I wonder if SAF would take on her case.
The bit about “if you don’t move out the others will move out and you’ll be responsible for the whole rent” — I wonder if that is true.
The “we’re not comfortable” argument: imagine if the “not comfortable” is about a roommate being black, or gay.
