Henry. 357 Mag / .38 Special. A bit heavy, but makes for a soft percieved recoil.
Not cheap apparently. $2K neighborhood.

Semi-retired like Vito Corleone before the heart attack. Consiglieri to J.Kb and AWA. I lived in a Gun Control Paradise: It sucked and got people killed. I do believe that Freedom scares the political elites.

Yup. I have a Rossi model 92 in .357. Shooting magnums or 38 specials, don’t matter, feels like shooting a .22 rimfire. Unbelievable fun. And I can reload .38’d cheaper than I can buy .22’s .
I luv Henry rifles. Id like one in walnut/ case colored.
Is that a big linear comp or a small suppressor on the business end?
Comp
Would rather have one of these, than a tacticool AR
Pretty sure Gun Jesus excommunicates you if you make a tacticool levergun.
Jokes aside though, that thing does look pretty sweet.
I’ve got the single shot in 44 mag. Love it. Paid about $430 OTD, and it has one of the nicest stocks of anything I own. Currently looking for somebody to make the bbl into an integrally suppressed jobby, makes for some good 150 – 200 yard ka-thunk – ting! with subsonic 300 grain lead flat nose rounds… Honestly one of the most fun of anything in my safe.
The Henry website says MSRP, depending on which particular variation, is just over $1000. Not quite cheap but not as bad as you thought.
Pretty much one-shot stops and easy to hit the target out to 200 yards.
Good for feral pigs and dogs, coyotes, smaller deer and black bear, and two-legged varmints.
That right there is a truck gun you can shoot all day.
Civil unrest? “They may get me in a rush, but not before I turn your head into a canoe, Ike.”
Enough Picatinny down front for a light, laser, or both.
And legal even in states with idiotic laws, and doesn’t look evil in court. Mongo like.
Just need a couple of bandito bandoleros, and you’re set.
Only downsides: ammo availability (ignorant youngsters at the counter look at you like you’ve grown another head when you ask for .357 ammo these days), and a tad slow to reload.
For the same price it also comes in 44 Mag and 45 Colt versions. How would you rate those options?
I think I’d like one of each, please.
There’s nothing wrong with, and everything right with, a handy carbine in the same caliber as your sidearm.
The .44mag takes your target options up another tier.
I’ve dumped enough .45LC downrange to know what I can hit with it, and having let my Marlin-made Marlin levers go a few years back due to circumstances, I wouldn’t mind getting a Henry now to put The Force back into balance.
