The first one simply does not know. The second one knows but choose to ignore the information and act accordingly.

And after what has happened with BLM, Antifa and where the country is heading, anybody who still believes this shit is fucking dumb.

And you bet there is more than one asshole thumping his chest and shouting “I don’t plan to miss!”

I stood guard during 3 days of rioting and looting armed with a Walter PPK, one spare mag and a single shot shotgun loaded with slug. I learned right there what is to feel absolutely “under-gunned” and prayed the looters and rioters decided to go somewhere else… and they did (Probably the shitload of Molotov cocktails by my side also helped with their decision.)

To actually think you will contain a rampaging mob with your trusty 1911 and maybe one spare mag because you don’t plan to miss, is s suicidal idiocy. And about plans, I leave you with the words of the great and wise philosopher Mike Tyson:

“Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.”

  1. Of course, the only sure defense against a mob attack is to not be there when it takes place.
    .
Unfortunately, that cannot always be arranged.
    .
Miguel, that’s a very interesting little tidbi; you’ve piqued my curiosity. Might I ask for more details?

  2. 1) suppressive fire as you move to cover and/or a long gun
    2) suppressive fire as your buddy moves to cover and/or long gun

And, of course, you’ll miss. The other guy can dodge, you can forget all your training and practice, you could get bumped. Reality isn’t a Hollywood movie — you don’t have a scriptwriter on your side.

  3. There was time i sorta agreed with that sentiment. especially when I carried a 357 Mag. Today, with antifa, etc and the potential for multiple home invaders, I’m carrying something with a larger number of rounds on tap. Note that I live in a deep red state in a smallish town so antifa riots aren’t likely, however forewarned is forearmed.

  4. Yup, as everyone knows, a single hit from a good guy will send the bad guy head over heels.

Who the hell is Jim Wilson? My first thought was Sheriff Jim Wilson, but he’s more street-savvy that that.

  5. Hey Miguel! Is 4 10rnd and 28 7rnd mags enough for my 1911? Heh heh. Oh and the AR has a 100 round drum . I agree whole heartedly with your post.

  6. My friend tells of when they heard the riots had kicked off in Baltimore in the 70’s or 80’s. His friend’s mother lived in a row house down in Baltimore, so these 4 dudes all grabbed their rifles, at least one or two were ARs and hot footed it down to Baltimore.

They set up in the big front window. As the rioters came down the street they were vandalizing, looting and burning.

When the riots were over there were 4 row houses on that block that were completely untouched. Friend’s Mother’s house and the three houses across the street from her house.

It is almost as if having armed defenders changed peoples minds…

Load out here is rifle with LBV carrying 7 30-rd mags, pistol with two spare mags. That’s 24 rounds for my primary pistol and 45+ for the 9mm pistols. Nobody ever got done with a fire fight and said “I wish I had less ammo”.

I don’t want to get in a firefight. If I do I hope that I can do as well as Kyle the Kid did. If not, I want a large honor guard in the afterlife.

  7. In fact I *do* plan to miss.
It’s simple reality that in a tense situation some rounds will not hit their mark and I plan accordingly.
When I switched from my old and heavy (but still well liked) 3rd gen S&W to a considerably smaller and lighter Diamondback I changed my carry mags from 17 rounds (aftermarket) to 15 rounds (extended) capacity and I tell you: I do miss these 2 rounds 😀

  8. I just wish I hadn’t lost my pistol in that boating accident last year, I had lots of bullets that drowned, also.
