MDA muzzleloaderThey are having a Freak-Out fest in the comment section. The obligatory redneck put downs are available alongside the accusation of ignorance, insanity and then, la creme de la creme:

Jennifer Bell I called and spoke to the principal today. It was a very concerning conversation. I was calm and collected and tried to appeal to him as a fellow educator in regards to the kind of example this will set for the students and the influence his decision will have. He didn’t let me get very far – interrupting me several times to tell me that this was not “some kind of AK 47 or hand gun.” It’s a black powder gun apparently. Then he asked me if I was a gun-owner. When I said that was immaterial to the discussion, he said obviously you’re not [a gun-owner] and don’t understand anything. I’m a hunter and know what I am doing. Then he hung up on me. Clearly, his personal ad political convictions are leading his decisions, which is inappropriate for a school administrator. Additionally, he was unprofessional, dismissive, and rude. I shared my experience with the state superintendent, June Atkinson (unfortunately, her authority is limited in this case). Then I called the country superintendent, Sean Bulson, who approved the decision, to file a complaint about the principal’s conduct and lack of professionalism. Finally, I called our local news station with the story.

So she went out of her way as an “educator” to politicize the event and at the same time display her ignorance…and on TV too to boot.

BTW, they have not figured out yet that the gun will not require a background check for the future owner to take possession.

  1. “BTW, they have not figured out yet that the gun will not require a background check for the future owner to take possession.”

…and that it can be shipped directly to the winner wherever they may be too. 😀

  2. Doesn’t matter. IT’S A GUN!!!!

I wish these people would get the counseling they so desperately need and leave the rest of us alone.

  3. Maybe the Principal was too rude in hanging up on her, but please note, she has identified herself as a fellow “educator” who called to protest, yet was apparently totally ignorant of the facts and specifics. I might have hung up on her.

I thought that educators were supposed to have a modicum of information before pontificating…

Just like them…get hysterical and have emotions replace cognition. Not a good way to make policy, advocate, or go through life.

    1. I think the principal’s behavior was perfectly reasonable. Had the “educator” answered honestly that she was not a gun-owner, he would clearly have explained the details. When she said it didn’t matter, she demonstrated that she had no desire to understand the difference between an antique muzzle-loading musket and a GAU-8, and there was no reason for him to continue the conversation beyond that point.

    2. I don’t think it was rude once he realized that her attitude was that she was going to waste his time until he agreed with her. She couldn’t accept that he wouldn’t, and he had a job to do. As a non-resident who isn’t employed or living in the district, is he really supposed to spend all day on the phone with people just trying to interfere who have no connection to the local community?

With school just starting up in most parts of the country, I suspect that he had better things to do that would better serve his students, his teachers, and the parents of the community. If I’m his boss and he tells me that the woman wanted to spend all day yapping on the phone, I’d toss that complaint out the window.

    1. Yea her and and her pal Shannon Watts like to spew bunch of made up facts spam other peoples pages yet you try to point out a fact boom banned These type of people need jobs or vacations (maybe middle east) to get some real world experience and trust me if you destroyed every gun in the world they champion another cause just for their own self importance

  4. I’m no fan of rude, and avoid it as a general rule, setting that aside, there are times when a little rude speaks volumes more than reasoned discussion. Especially when only one side is reasonable.

  5. I think any reporter reporting on ANYTHING should have at least some basic information on the subject, that’s what the news research staff is for.
One idiot reporter called the muzzle loading cap and ball black powder rifle a SHOTGUN.

    1. She not even a reporter she is a house frau who started a group originally against monsanto tho they figured out their was more money in GUN CONTROL The run around for attention then get mad when their name is used by the way thank you Jennifer i sent my cousin over to buy few tickets to help out the cause !!!

  6. 1) “Clearly, his personal and political convictions are leading his decisions…”

Clearly her personal and political convictions are leading to her hissyfit attempt to force her personal and political views on others.

    2) In the MDA post: “Originally only 20 raffle tickets were printed for the gun, but due to the controversy , hundreds more have been printed and sold.

ABC15 news article: Originally only twenty raffle tickets were going to be printed for the gun, but there was so much interest , hundreds more have been printed and sold.

Change one word, twist of the meaning of the quote…

    3) Also, if “some” parents have a problem with the gun raffle (let’s say 10%) but 90% are OK or neutral with it, they want the school to bow to the demands of the 10%, BUT…

When it’s 90% for universal background checks (total BS number, remember 81.32% of all statistics are just made up), and it’s 10% against universal background checks, the 10% should have no voice ?!?

Love their logic, or lack thereof.

  7. I’d like to buy a lottery ticket. Anybody got the address. Funny they call it an “assault” muzzle loader. Do battle with “assault” bows and arrows.

    1. I don’t know about assualt slingshots but they do come in double barrel!.My wife has a drawer full of them

  8. “Clearly, his personal ad political convictions are leading his decisions, which is inappropriate for a school administrator”.
Clearly her personal convictions drove her to call the principal, administrator, state DoE, and the local news; that seems inappropriate for a so called ‘open minded’ educator too!

  9. Ok I can see where some uptight people are mad about this, but that is too bad. This Jennifer Bell’s comment seems to have started a few questions and comments about her conversation with the principal. Well here are just a few of my thoughts. She should not have identified herself as an educator. 1. When quoting the principal she didn’t use quotation marks. 2. She spelled “and” as ad. Should have proofed it before posting. 3. She said. ” Then I called the country superintendent” . I think that should have been ” county”. Again people if you are going to post your opinions on the Internet and you are trying to sound all important and well educated, try to proof your comments before you click the post button. It keeps you from looking so stupid. For those who had negative comments about rednecks. The interstates lead north too. Don’t think that we can not make it with out you.

  10. I dub me lightbringer.
I posted on their facebook that it was a black powder and that no background check is needed and that even 18 year olds can get these at Walmart and etc.
I expect my facebook to go boom any minute now.
    This should be fun.
