From The Hill:

George Floyd’s brother calls on United Nations to study police brutality in US

The brother of George Floyd, an unarmed black man whose death in police custody set off protests worldwide, is calling on the United Nations Human Rights Council to establish an independent commission to study police brutality against black people in the U.S.

In an emotional speech Wednesday broadcast via video before the council, Philonise Floyd urged the body to help black Americans seek justice in response to police brutality. He said that his brother’s death was not “unique,” arguing that it is “the way black people are treated by police in America.”

“I’m asking you to help him. I’m asking you to help me. I’m asking you to help us, black people in America,” he continued, adding that he’d like the independent commission to also investigate police use of force on peaceful protesters.

And from Reuters:

African nations seek UN inquiry into US racism, ‘police brutality’ -text

African countries are lobbying to set up a U.N. inquiry into “systemic racism” and “police brutality” in the United States and elsewhere, aiming to defend the rights of people of African descent, a draft resolution seen by Reuters shows.

The text, circulating among diplomats in Geneva, voices alarm at “recent incidents of police brutality against peaceful demonstrators defending the rights of Africans and of people of African descent”. It is due to be considered at an urgent debate of the U.N. Human Rights Council on Wednesday.

This sounds like a great plan.  Venezuela and Sudan are current members of the Human Rights Council.

The Human Rights Council is notorious for being where the worse human rights offenders in the world go to get legitimacy and cover for their crimes.

Then there are the African countries like Rwanda, which had a genocide in the 90’s, and Sierra Leone, which had a revolution marked by the chopping off of thousands of hands.

Nations ruled my murderous and corrupt despots, where child soldiers and warlords commit atrocities, mass rapes, punitive amputations, and genocide are going to investigate the US and our police forces?

What are they going to find?

The state and federal DOJ stepping in and charging the officer who killed George Floyd with murder and violating his civil rights.  Our system of justice is working.

Theirs is broken.

But that is the way it works now, we are in Bizarro World or the Upside-Down.

The mob rules and the worst human rights violators on the planet are invited to check our system.

If they go down this path, I just hope they send in the Blue Helmets.  I would love to see these Blue States learn first hand the kinds of violations UN Peacekeepers carry out and how they are immune from prosecution.

I suspect there are lots of people, none of whom live in blue cities, and all who own guns, who would love to see the Blue Helmets deployed onto American soil, and for a completely different reason.

    1. Oh yeah. But if the Blue Helmets set up rape camps in Chicago or Minneapolis, I’m not going to stop them.

If they come to Alabama, it’s on.

      1. Then again, how often do they operate in regions where a large fraction of the local population is armed, hunts, and can generally afford optics for their hunting rifles?

      2. Speaking of which, I’m looking for a new scope that will live on a .308 or 6.5 Creedmoor. Any thoughts? I’ve been looking at an Athlon Midas 2.5-15×50, but have no experience with the brand.

        1. Vortex optics have become the best bang for the buck. If you want made in the USA, Leupold, Nightforce, and Trijicon are the best. Nightforce has some hunting optics that are still very good but not as overbuilt as their tactical stuff.
