The original, Ian Gillan/Murray Head version was the best. The movie version’s Judas was decent (and I withhold opinion on the Mary), but that version’s Jesus was remarkably gutless. While a lot of the songs in JCS demand massive technical skill (check the time signature for ‘Everything’s All Right’), Jesus’ and Judas’ songs almost demand a voice that can fill a stadium on its own… and The Voice Of Deep Purple delivers.
The original, Ian Gillan/Murray Head version was the best.
