Apparently Ellen’s has felt some heat for her early screw up in its tickets and issued an official “The Dog Ate My Homework” apology and changed the message the bill.
Here is the link to Colin Noir’s Facebook page where the full size “apology” can be read. I am going to concentrate in one passage:
Early this morning, we began posting a message on the bottom of our receipts stating that Ellen’s intends to donate a portion of our proceeds this week toward the efforts of finding common ground and compromise in the fight to eliminate needless gun violence, especially in our schools and against our dedicated police officers.
With a limited number of characters available for that message, we simplified it to say we support “reasonable and effective gun regulations” toward that end.
What was not expected was that those two words — reasonable and effective — would be misinterpreted as our support for gun control. The mistake was an honest one. The opposite is true.
You cannot claim the “I ran out of character’s space” excuse and then add more words to the message as it only serves to confirm you are full of it. I would have had more respect if they had stick to their guns (pun intended) rather than come up with a shitty excuse.
What is the expression making the rounds? “Get woke, go broke.”
Hat Tip to last Thirdpower who should be writing this in his own blog 🙂
“Reasonable and effective gun regulations” in liberal gun grabber speak means no “military style assault weapons”, “universal background checks”, “denial of the right to posses a gun for a domestic violence allegation (with out due process)” and “no fly-no buy”. Somehow, I don’t think their definition of protecting the 2nd amendment matches mine (or the founding father’s).
Reasonable like in England, as in “we don’t want to take all your guns, because letting you keep a double shotgun seems reasonable to us. Yes, you can only have birdshot, and you have to complete a three month training program and apply for an expensive license, and have your gun locked away with ammo separate (we’ll check), and don’t you even think about using it for self defense!”
I suspect that when the owner wrote the first bit, she thought that the brainless deplorable flyover gun people wouldn’t notice the words, because everyone know they’re illiterate. She could then trumpet her little bit of woke virtue signaling and be the toast of the Left.
Much to her surprise, it turns out NRA people can read, and instead of getting lauds (and more business), she’s getting hammered, and will likely lose a lot of local business as well.
On a positive note, the fact that “Get Woke, Go Broke” is a thing should be an encouragement. Despite all the attempts of the press to build a false leftwing consensus, most people aren’t buying into their nonsense.
“Oh shit. There is a huge convention in town and we’re empty. The NRA is staying away and the NoRA protestors aren’t coming in either. Quick, do something.”
Get woke, go broke!
I want that bumper sticker!
