ATLANTA – Hotel security cameras show the unidentified robber walk into the hotel office. The man bought a snack out of a vending machine then walked to the counter and pulled a gun on Vrajesh Patel, 19, according to police.

It appears other customers were not aware of the robbery until the gun fired.

When the gun went off, Patel was hit in the stomach, but at virtually the same time, a second bullet from the gun hits the robber in the head, according to detectives.

via LiveLeak.com – Robber shoots himself and clerk at same time.

Go to 2:16 and watch.

I smell rancid cod on this one. Somehow and accidentally the bad guy shoots the clerk in the stomach, manages to do a reverse Curly Bill Spin, rotate the gun 90 degrees and proceeds to shoot himself in the head? and all in fractions of a second?
My money goes to somebody off camera popping the bad guy and a sympathetic reaction got the clerk shot.

  1. J beat me to it. There are a ton of those 500 mag double videos out there. The second shot often gets fired damn near straight up.

The robber doesn’t look like he has a strong hold on that gun so he’s not controlling muzzle flip, nor does it look like he shot the clerk intentionally in the first place. Also he’s tucking the gun in close, meaning that straight up is where his brains are supposed to be.

Looks like a revolver, but hard to tell due to video quality. If it was a DA/SA pistol or striker-fired this is even more plausible.

Still an air-weight .38 with that bad a grip could do this.

Double if the thug was breaking Rule 3 and accidentally squeezed the trigger when he was frustrated that the money was going everywhere, and surprised that gun went off he flinched AFTER the recoil pushed the trigger to reset and turned it 90 degrees upward.

So yeah look for that entry wound between his throat and upper lip.

    1. My Rule 3 ND coupled with a reaction flinch once he realized he just capped a dude that he probably was going to let live (he certainly didn’t have enough ammo to shoot all the witnesses, nor did he seem to care about people seeing him)

add in a weak grip indexed near the rib cage and you have a brain shot from an upward angle.
