Amid talk of reinstating the assault weapons ban that expired eight years ago, police departments nationwide are thinking of ways to confiscate such weapons.

I am sure that MDPD and other LEO organizations around Miami-Dade County are just laughing their asses off at the thought of some White Shirt telling them to go house by house confiscating guns and expecting to be obeyed.
At least we hope so. having dealt, all too much, with Metro-Dade (as they will always be known to me) I have no doubt many of them have no problem following such unConstitutional orders. That is until the first shots are fired, and their brethren start dropping like flies.
They might be crazy, not stupid.
I don’t think they are either. What they are is evil. Doing only what suits them, not thinking past the benefit they will receive from a particular action. Which is why I believe they won’t realize how bad an idea confiscation is, until several of them have died.
I’m glad they’re thinking about it. Hopefully in their thinking they’ll realize what a really bad idea it would be to try.
I’ve said it before, i think they’d run out of willing cops first. most cops take their duty to defend and uphold the constitution pretty damn seriously
I do not agree. I believe most cops would go along and do exactly what they are ordered to do. I said MOST, not all. I believe there is a remnant among them, but they are definitely not the majority.
If “most” of those in the Law Imposement industry were such good guys, why is there eerie silence from their ranks every time there is a new gun ban proposed? Why is it, their professional organizations never seem to espouse our side? I have not heard any of them stand up publicly and say, “The Mayor ( City Councilman, Governor, Senator, President) does not speak for me!”
Most cops will only begin to say no when it become too dangerous and/or too expensive for them.
I hope you guys are right. The folks in Louisiana thought that way about their cops, too, until Katrina came along and it was decided that the common folk can’t be trusted with firearms. Where was the cops’ firm belief in the Constitution then? I’ve heard a lot of police officers claim they would never participate in such a thing, but if it REALLY came down to it, how many would put their convictions ahead of their jobs? I think it is fewer than we believe.
I trust a lot of South Florida cops. I had the opportunity to interact with plenty who are firmly in our side. I also trust the fact that the rest know the serious amount of firepower held by citizens and that makes their lives so much pleasant after hurricanes.
There are a lot of cops, feds and military that won’t participate in such nonsense.
