Semi-retired like Vito Corleone before the heart attack. Consiglieri to J.Kb and AWA. I lived in a Gun Control Paradise: It sucked and got people killed. I do believe that Freedom scares the political elites.

  1. Not precisely. Curtains are concealment but hardly count as cover.
They would help when someone is out to get you, or when a nutcase is out to get someone, anyone. But it makes no difference if you live in places like Boston where every day or two some gang member goes around shooting in random directions, bullets flying through windows and walls and hitting whoever has the misfortune of being in the path. In places like that, curtains won’t help a bit.

    1. The point was a case of premeditated assassination, I believe. I always keep my curtains closed at night. It spoils their aim….

  2. Another thing to consider is lighting direction. Curtain shears, which are partially translucent, can be part of a very effective defensive strategy. If the shears are lit from the outside and the inside is dark or semidark, the only way you will be able to see through them is if you are almost on top of them (barring thermal scopes or such). Snipers use shears like that as a way of concealing their position in an urban hide while allowing them to see out the window.

(The inverse also applies. If the interior of the building is lit, shears have near zero concealment value. So be careful with them.)
