What strikes me the most is that Law Enforcement Gun Controllers and the activists themselves considered regular citizens too stupid to carry a firearm, but apparently their IQ increased with the size of the wallets which then made it OK to carry.

Oh yes, I love that last bit about victim blaming.

  1. I don’t understand why Florida gets all the glory for gun rights when they are behind many other states on everything? Indiana’s Shall Issue CCW was passed in 1980. We’ve had open carry forever. SYG, and Castle Doctrine. We’re also Constitutional carry as well, and accept every other state’s permits.

    1. Florida bucked the Gun Control trend that was full steam ahead by then. It was not supposed to do so. Since 1968, the idea was to finally get rid of handgun ownership altogether and specially with the brutal raise in drug-related violent crime the country was having at the time. Here comes Florida, drug capital USA and not only gets rids of the restrictions in gun ownership and carry imposed barely 6 years before, it moves the concept of Shall Issue to the front…. and it wins. The bill was approved by the legislature, vetoed by the governor and the veto overturned by the legislature… unheard shot when it came to guns back then.
Florida was a gigantic monkey wrench in the gun control works of the time. It showed the system, the media and the special interests could be beaten.

        1. Prior to Florida, there were 7 states with Shall Issue and one with Constitutional Carry. And the other important detail with Florida was State Preemption which got rid of the county-by-county schemes. To this date is still the most hated provision of all, even more than Stand Your Ground..

          1. State preemption passed without too much comment here in IN as well. Can’t tell you what year though…
