Got your butt shot for the trouble.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A man trying to break into a Motel 6 room Saturday was shot in the rear end by the room’s occupant, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.

Volusia County Sheriff’s Office public information office Andrew Grant said a man and a woman attempted to break into an occupied Motel 6 room in Daytona Beach on West International Speedway Boulevard around 3 a.m. The pair were trying to enter the room through a window and woke up the occupant who responded by firing a gun at them.

The man trying to get into the room was shot in the buttocks, deputies said.

I love happy endings. and kudos to the author for the many uses of synonyms of ass.

One of the issues of traveling is the possibility of being targeted by the criminal element. The fact that you are not local, do not know the make up of the land and might be with your guard down makes for a very tempting target.  In our last two excursions, we stayed in budget motels that for the most part were nice, but there is always that shady looking guy roaming around who got my undivided attention till he realized we were not going to be partake of his criminal offerings and left for other locations. And it was a good decision since, specially the last one, since it was the SW Florida Blog Shot trip and there might have been a weapon or two in the room.

I have written about people  going to hotels and just relaxing their security mindset for no other reason that they are not home when the opposite was supposed to be the baseline. I still don’t understand why, but I hope the readers of this blog don’t fall for that trap. When you are on te road, stay twice as alert and wary as if you were home.

And on the other side of the coin: Florida won’t require COVID-19 ‘vaccine passports,’ governor says

“I just want to make very clear in Florida, we are not doing any vaccine passports. All those experts said that it was a bad idea. I think it’s a bad idea and so that will not happen. And so folks should get vaccinated, if they want to, we’ll obviously provide that, but under no circumstances will the state be asking you to show proof of vaccination, and I don’t think private companies should be doing that either,” the governor said Thursday.

Covid Passports will be mandatory in New York Starting April.

New Yorkers will be required to show “vaccine passports” – proof that they have received the COVID-19 vaccine – in order to re-enter society.
The New York Post reported that the “Excelsior Pass” would officially launch on April 2, following an announcement from Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) on Friday.
“Similar to a mobile airline boarding pass, individuals will be able to either print out their pass or store it on their smartphones using the Excelsior Pass Wallet app,” said a press release about the program. “Each Pass will have a secure QR code, which participating businesses and venues can scan using a companion app to verify proof of COVID-19 negative test results or proof of vaccination. An individual’s data is kept secure and confidential at all times.”

The app, which launched Friday, already works to prove vaccination status or negative test results and can be used to gain access to wedding receptions, which now require negative tests from attendees, and other events above the social gathering limit.

New York Will Officially Begin Requiring ‘Vaccine Passports’ On April 2

This comes from the same people that would have thrown you in jail to rot miserably if 40 ago any store demanded to see proof that a customer was HIV or Herpes negative.

I don’t believe Cuomo will resign. He is having too much fun playing Generalisimo of New York State.

Florida Legislature 2021: CHURCH CARRY BILL HAS PASSED THE FLORIDA HOUSE

And the usual copy/paste but with good news. I will keep you posted.

We need this one.

LEGISLATORS HEARD YOUR VOICES AND PASSED HB-259

On Thursday, March 25, 2021, the full Florida House of Representatives met and heard  HB-259 Sponsored by Rep. Jayer Williamson & Rep. Cord Byrd.  During the Q&A period, anti-gun legislators were allowed to question sponsors.  Then, under the rules the bill, then “rolled over” until the next House floor session.

Today, Friday, March 26, 2021, the full House came back into session.  HB-259 was up for debate and then PASSED by a VOTE of  76-37 !

HB-259  RESTORES the private property rights of religious institutions AND the self-defense rights of  people who go to church.

Church goers, who are licensed by the state to carry firearms for self-defense, are currently being deprived of the same rights they have when they go shopping, go into a business, or onto any other private property.  This bill fixes that.

The bill now goes to the Florida Senate.
