A third wave of the Covid pandemic is now advancing swiftly across much of Europe. As a result, many nations – bogged down by sluggish vaccination campaigns – are witnessing sharp rises in infection rates and numbers of cases.

The infection rate in the EU is now at its highest level since the beginning of February, with the spread of new variants of the Covid-19 virus being blamed for much of the recent increase.

BERLIN (AP) — Germany, France and Italy on Monday became the latest countries to suspend use of AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine over reports of dangerous blood clots in some recipients, though the company and European regulators have said there is no evidence the shot is to blame.

AstraZeneca’s formula is just one of three vaccines in use on the continent. But the move amounts to another setback for the European Union’s vaccine rollout, which has been plagued by supply shortages and other hurdles and is lagging well behind the campaigns in Britain and the U.S.

Basically they effed it up, they know they effed it up but rather than fix it and change the way they did things that brought all to this juncture, they rather repeat the same steps because they have power and it tastes so good.

2021 Oscars Nominations: Full List of Nominees – Variety

And as usual, I have not seen but  a very few and seriously not interested in watching the rest.

Of all the movies nominated, I watched Soul (nice one and great music, nominated for original score), Mank (great acting by Gary Oldman and utterly boring movie which he could not save) and Hillbilly Elegy (So bad the missus threatened me with divorce if we did not watch something else). Ah crap, I forgot Mulan which was a spectacular “meh” and with a message from Disney that said “If you have a vagina, you have magical powers” which we males know it is true, but more like PornHub and less Disney Princess.

Who the winners will be? Just pick your politics du jour and apply to a nominated movie. If it checkmarks 50% or more, it is a serious contender. 70% and over is a winner.

I can certainly say that during the past years, I have watched more YouTube than Hollywood and found more entertainment and less political preaching too.

California proposes curriculum on Aztec god honored by human sacrifice

The California Department of Education has proposed an ethnic studies “model curriculum” that includes, among other things, chanting the names of Aztec gods in an attempt to build unity among schoolchildren.

Included in the draft curriculum is a list of “lesson resources” with a chant based on “In Lak Ech,” which it describes as “love, unity, mutual respect,” and “Panche Be,” which it describes as “seeking the roots of truth.”

The chant starts with a declaration that “you are my other me” and “if I do harm to you, I do harm to myself.” Before chanting the name of the Aztec god Tezkatlipoka, the text reads: “Seeking the roots of the truth, seeking the truth of the roots, elders and us youth, (youth), critical thinking through.”

It adds: “Tezkatlipoka, Tezkatlipoka, x2 smoking mirror, self-reflection Tezkatlipoka.”

Tezkatlipoka is the name of an Aztec god that was honored with human sacrifice. According to the World History Encyclopedia, an impersonator of Tezkatlipoka would be sacrificed with his heart removed to honor the deity.

The California curriculum’s introduction argued that the program would help marginalized groups.

“By affirming the identities and contributions of marginalized groups in our society, ethnic studies helps students see themselves and each other as part of the narrative of the United States,” it read. “Importantly, this helps students see themselves as active agents in the interethnic bridge-building process we call American life.”

The guiding principles included goals including, “celebrate and honor Native People/s of the land and communities of Black Indigenous People of Color.” Another guiding principle read: “Center and place high value on the pre-colonial, ancestral knowledge, narratives, and communal experiences of Native people/s and people of color and groups that are typically marginalized in society.”

The “chants, affirmations, and energizers,” the curriculum read, “can be used as energizers to bring the class together, build unity around ethnic studies principles and values, and to reinvigorate the class following a lesson that may be emotionally taxing or even when student engagement may appear to be low.”

I’m not shocked by this at all.

The Aztec empire was essentially a giant death cult.

In 1487, the Aztecs sacrificed 84,000 people in four days to consecrate a temple.  Spanish Conquistadors wrote about the racks of human skulls of the victims of sacrifice in Aztec cities which the Aztecs believes were necessary to feed the gods and continue the world.  Some of those racks have been found and have an estimated 130,000 skulls on them.

When the weather was dry the Aztecs sacrificed people.  When it rained, they sacrificed more.  The only thing the Aztec empire did was go to war to conquer surrounding tribes for slaves to sacrifice.  They built only temples for sacrifice.  Their astronomy was conducted only to determine what time of year was best for sacrifice.  It was a death cult, not a civilization, and it was doomed to failure.

This is not unlike pure totalitarian Leftism.  The purist Leftist ideologue knows only one thing, that if enough of the right people are murdered that will make the crops grow, the trains run on time, and produce plenty for the people.  Every totalitarian regime ever in history started with human liquidation, and whenever they hit a rough patch continued the human liquidation.

The only substantive difference is that the Aztecs believed they were feeding an actual god while totalitarian Leftists had Marxist economic theory.

So for Marxists to support the reinstitution of Aztec religion makes perverse sense.  They have no idea how to create or maintain a healthy functioning society, but they are absolutely sure that they can somehow produce plenty for everyone as long as they have a steady supply of enemies to murder.

City of Miami hires Houston top cop as Chief of Police (UPDATED)

And a RINO is brought in.  He is Cuban but with no South Florida experience.  He is more Californian than anything even with stints as police chief of Austin and Houston.  And he has a reputation for throwing his officers under the bus if the optics require it.

So far, media and City of Miami pols are creaming in their pants.  And why shouldn’t they? He is a self proclaimed RINO and favors Gun Control.

The irony of the photo is brutal.

I wonder how is he going to deal with the fact that more people carry guns in Florida than Texas.

I do not believe this “marriage” is going end well.

UPDATE: A kind reader informed me just now that Acevedo has been sued by a former subordinate for having an affair which was the reason he left sunny California and became a traveling chief of police.

Radical Leftist racist activist blames the JOOOOOOOOOOOOSSSS for his failures

Anyone who isn’t a dyed in the wool Leftist should be well aware that Dr. Cornel West is just a crazy Communist racist.

He is a “public intellectual” which means he makes a shit load of money to go on all sorts of TV shows and speaking engagements and write for all sorts of medical outlets to espouse his Leftist bullshit.

As John McWhorter documents, West stopped doing any sort of real academic work in his professorial field long ago to embrace the activist/intellectual lifestyle that makes him rich and famous.

This is why Harvard denied him tenure.  And they decided to reverse themselves due to public pressure.

You’d think that West’s behavior after he was denied tenure would be sufficient to justify denying him tenure, i.e., pushing an antisemitic conspiracy theory.

But alas, being a racial antisemitic Leftist doesn’t earn you scorn but praise in the Ivy Leagues and guarantees you a six-figure tenure track salary.
