The .223 Rem/5.56×45 and .308 Win/7.62×51 was pretty picked over but many other calibers still in stock, e.g. .224 Valkyrie, 6.5 Grendel, 7mm Rem. No apparent shortage of shotgun loads. Bulk ammo, same story on a quick glance.

Lots of pistols, rifles & shotguns on the shelves and in the cases, but they were only letting  5 or 6 customers into the “gun section” at one time.

Wow! This is some high shrieking level of Trump Derangement Syndrome. And I know where she is coming from because I have been watching the briefings almost all this week and the summary is this: Trump is not allowing the venomous Washington Press Corps to dictate the message going out to the American People. And if that was not bad enough, the president has no problem telling them what they are:

As Bay Area business owners navigated the labyrinthine rules of the sweeping shelter-in-place order implemented Monday, many gun dealers across the region opted to stay open this week, amid a spike in sales apparently driven by fears over the coronavirus pandemic.

But after customers lined up around gun stores in several counties Tuesday — including outside the Bullseye Bishop in San Jose — San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo declared that “gun stores are non-essential.”

“We are having panic buying right now for food,” Liccardo said Wednesday. “The one thing we cannot have is panic buying of guns.”

The panic buying of guns seems to be driven by politicians and bureaucrats announcing that the police will not arrest people for a wide array of crimes and will go so far as to release suspects awaiting trial and even convicted criminals as a reaction fo the Coronavirus.

Naturally, with the police standing down and criminals giving generous immunity, people want to protect themselves.

Being unable to ban guns, these governments are now taking the step of forcing gun stores to close as “non-essential.”

San Jose is the first reported that I’ve seen, but expect this to spread rapidly across the country.

With the Left’s beloved criminals roaming the streets, the most dangerous thing for them is armed citizens willing to protect themselves because they know the police are not coming.

This is why you shouldn’t wait for a crisis to own guns and ammo.  They are something you need on hand before the crisis occurs.  By then, it will be too late.

I suspect when this blows over, there is going to be a spike in gun sales that dwarfs the Hillary spike and a run on CCW permits that makes post 9/11 look like a hiccup.

The Left went overboard, suspending arrests and releasing criminals.  I think a lot of Americans who are not totally dyed-in-the-wool Leftists are going to take the need for preparedness, including guns, as the big lesson of this event.

The drug touted by the U.S. President Donald Trump as a possible line of treatment against the coronavirus comes with severe warnings in China and can kill in dosages as little as two grams.

China, where the deadly pathogen first emerged in December, recommended the decades-old malaria drug chloroquine to treat infected patients in guidelines issued in February after seeing encouraging results in clinical trials. But within days, it cautioned doctors and health officials about the drug’s lethal side effects and rolled back its usage.

This came after local media reported that a Wuhan Institute of Virology study found that the drug can kill an adult just dosed at twice the daily amount recommended for treatment, which is one gram.

And coming on second: Giving twice the recommended dosage is bad? No shit? what part of  recommended dosage you journalists did not fucking get? This a medication discovered in 1934 and has been in the market since which  is a damn great banner indicating the medical community feels safe about the drug used in the established amount.  And why you morons are not asking what the hell was China doing shoving contraindicated 2 grams of the medicine in their patients and killing them when it has been know for decades that one gram is the limit?

Is you hate for Trump so great you are freely propagate Chinese government bullshit to set the nation in panic?  Is your need to claim Joe Biden as President next year so big that you are willing to condemn people to death by ruining the reputation of a possibly life-saving drug?

What I did see was people using disposable gloves to handle the pump and then disposing of them before going back inside the car. I should have thought of that, but I did have my disinfectant wipes and only used one hand to touch the pump. And yes, I wiped TWICE the hand before getting back in. It looked like a pre-op scene from the old ER TV show.

Reader Therefore sent me this email to share with all of you.

We have a friend who is a trucker.  I explicitly asked him to send us some images/pictures of loaded trucks.  I was going to push them out to help slow down the panic.

The answer I got back wasn’t very pleasant.  Seems that the truckers are “essential” workers and allowed to keep on trucking.  Warehouse workers are not.  Our friend arrived at the warehouse in CA and there were no workers to load the trucks.  Warehouse has lots in it, I won’t say it was full, but nothing like the empty shelves of retailers.  So there is a bunch of truckers waiting in their trucks for the warehouse people to show up to unload and then load.

He’s expecting the government to release warehouse workers tomorrow.  Still, this puts deliveries in CA at least a day behind.

You get the feeling that some decisions are being made by people who have no idea how a supply chain works. It is easy to issue orders. It is hard to issue orders with common sense and forethought.

It will take time to smooth the kinks.
