LaPierre Derangement Syndrome: Now at a Gun Owner near you. (Updated, sadly.)

It seems that “experts” agree I am not only wrong saying we should not make stupid comparisons, but some are saying that they have been told IS EVEN MUCH WORSE!!!!!! ZOMG!

And exchange just happened in Facebook. Edited to reflect one of several exchanges:

So now LaPierre is tagged as Child Molester. I reckon by next week, we will hear that after fucking the kids, he dismember them and made really nice South Carolina BBQ with them that was sold at the NRA Annual Meeting.

To me it is official: It is no longer about cleaning the NRA but obtaining payback from LaPierre, the NRA be damned. The thirst for alleged vengeance is stronger that the defense of Gun Rights.

Welcome to Gun Culture 3.0

Update: Yes, we are screwed.

Can LaPierre be removed without destrying the NRA from the inside? Apprently nobody cares.

Dr. Michael S. Brown penned an open missive to Marion Hammer about the internal strife we are having. He was doing not bad at all, but he had be a hyperbolic idiot:

(re: LaPierre)

This is the kind of behavior we expect from dictators like Nicholas Maduro, not the leader of America’s oldest civil rights organization.

I beg your effing pardon? Is he out of his skull. I know you don’t like LaPierre, but comparing him with somebody who has destroyed a country and even has real Gestapo-like organizations and death squads running around the country arresting or killing political foes is a stupid exaggeration that destroys any message he was trying to give (Unless the message is as appears to be interned, Fuck It And Destroy the NRA.)

Now, if you have not caught up to the idea that every line we write may be used against the NRA and us in The Trace and the New York Time and Taco Stand, where the hell have you been?  Congresscritters do not read your sharp tweets, they read the WaPo and the NYT. And they are going to read the opinion piece where they mention a respected doctor involved in Gun Rights accusing LaPierre (and by proxy, the NRA and its members) of being a dictatorship like Venezuela’s Maduro.

So please, remove LaPierre without giving the enemy internal ammunition to bring down the organization. And if you cannot do that, at least be candid enough to say you are in for the payback and not for Gun Rights. At least we know where you stand because sure as shit I do not consider you a part of the NRA.

Stop behaving like AOC and company. You are supposed to be adults.

Chris Pratt criticised for T-shirt choice

Chris Pratt is facing criticism over a T-shirt he was pictured wearing featuring a controversial symbol.

Oh God, what controversial symbol?  What benign thing did Chris Pratt do that snowflakes are going to blow out of proportion?

The Marvel star’s top shows the American flag with a coiled snake over the top and a message underneath which reads “Don’t Tread On Me.”

Yes, he did.

The writing and snake combo on its own is depicted on the Gadsden flag; a symbol created by Christopher Gadsden, a Charleston-born brigadier general in the Continental Army.

It came to prominence during the Revolutionary War of the US by colonists who wanted independence from Great Britain.

Also true.  However, it was not the one flag to be emblazoned with DONT TREAD ON ME.  The First Navy Jack of the united states also had those words and an uncoiled snake on a field of red and white stripes.

So Pratt’s shirt is sort of a Gadsden/Navy Jack hybrid.

Although it is one of the symbols and flags used by the U.S. Men’s Soccer Team, Metallica, as well as some libertarian groups, over the years the flag has been adopted by Far Right political groups like the Tea Party, as well as gun-toting supporters of the Second Amendment.

I couldn’t care less about men’s soccer or Metallica.

As for Libertarians, the Tea Party, and Gun Rights groups, for us, the flag still represents what it did when it was first raised by Christopher Gadsden.

“Leave me the fuck alone.”

That is all that we ask.

It has therefore become a symbol of more conservative and far right individuals and, according to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission of the US, it also is “sometimes interpreted to convey racially-tinged messages in some contexts.”

A bunch of Lefty’s don’t like that message because treading is all they know how to do.

It’s why some people are critical of Pratt wearing a T-shirt featuring the Gadsden flag iconography.

Many have posted their feelings about it on Twitter.

“Andy Dwyer would never wear a shirt emblazoned with a white supremacist dogwhistle. Chris Pratt is unequivocally the worst Chris.”

And more words lose their meaning.

Not wanting to have your rights taken away by big government is now white supremacist.

Yep.  The only thing that isn’t racist is being a slave to the bureaucracy.

Yahoo News UK and the Far Left has had it out for Pratt for a while.  Turns out he is slightly conservative (but he hides it) and is a big-time hunter.

This is how Yahoo News UK chose to use that to slander him.

Chris Pratt loses fans after hunting video post

From everything I’ve read about him, Chris Pratt seems to be a very nice, down-to-earth celebrity.  He goes to visit children’s hospitals dressed as his Marvel hero character.

That may be endearing to us “normies” but in the Progressive Celebrity world, rampant narcissism and then trying to buy indulgences by advocating for taxing the shit out of the rich is the only acceptable behavior.

So we are treated to some bullshit about how a flag representing the desire for American independence from tyranny is now white supremacist by the people who lost that particular war.

2019 is stupid because people like this write stupid shit.

Either tone deaf or a not very veiled threat

Remember a couple of days ago when some nut job with Antifa decided to go on his one-man Harpers Ferry raid on an ICE facility with homemade firebombs?

Well, one of the members of what the media as dubbed “the Squad,” Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, gave a speech that contained a line that was…  well, just watch.

“And if you don’t, we will bring the fire.”

Being as generous as I can be, that is ridiculously tone-deaf following the Tacoma ICE facility attack.

Being less than generous, that is a threat that the Squad is going to incite Antifa to commit more violence.

Keep in mind that it was Pressley’s squad mate, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez who started the “detention centers are concentration camps” rhetoric, and that Willem Van Spronsen used that rhetoric in his manifesto as to why he was going to burn an ICE facility.

Every time Trump has even a typo in a Tweet, the media has “experts” to explain how that is a racist dog whistle to incite white supremacists.

A Progressive Congresswoman saying that her side will “will bring the fire” just days after an Antifa firebombing, and I’ve heard no media outrage.

This does bode poorly for a peaceful resolution to this situation.

ATF & The Folding Stock Boondoggle

Go ahead and watch this video.

I am still confused.

I am confused because besides the 26 inches overall, I thought rifles needed to be classified by the barrel length of 16 inches and longer. Now, I may have missed it, but I think he shows a rifle above the 26 inches overall but with a 14 inch barrel as if it were legal as in Non-NFA legal. Again, I may have misinterpreted so it would be my fault, not the video’s.

Do we have anybody who has done a good video or graphic guide  between Non-NFA, SBR and AOW and whatever other permutations are out there? I mean something that actually quotes law & regulation and shows on an example weapon? This is why I am not warming up to the idea of eventually going for the Pistol AR.

Now for something beautiful

The story behind the music video is even better.

“This video is shot in my home town of Athens, Alabama. The actors are my family and friends,” Howard writes in a press release. “Terry Crews plays a man who isn’t out to change the world, he plays a man who just wants to come home to those who understand and love him best. We see his inner beauty, grace and humanity in a place that is so often misunderstood.”

I love that this was done by someone from Alabama who loves Alabama, and doesn’t take The Daily Show or The New York Times view of Alabama, which is a place of unrelenting racism and ubiquitous grinding poverty.

Also, Terry Crews seems like a really nice guy.

How did Terry Crews come to appear in the video? Simple. Brittany Howard asked (she also makes a cameo).

“I got an email from the Brittany Howard, asking me to be a part of a song she wrote that was all about her dad and how special he was to the family. And she poured her heart out in this letter. I couldn’t believe it,” Terry Crews recalls. “Brittany was like, ‘We can shoot it in L.A.,’ and I said, ‘No, I’m coming to you, we’re going to Alabama. We’re going to where you grew up, to where your family is.”

That’s just beautiful.
