How not to run a gun store

Watch two burglars steal 48 guns from a Florida gun shop

Two burglars made quick work of a gun shop in Live Oak when they stole 48 guns earlier this month.

Live Oak police released surveillance video of the pair breaking into Pro Arms gun shop on July 14.

Once the two broke in, one quickly hopped over the counter and put guns in a bag, the video shows. The other used what looks like a sledge hammer to break cases.

One of the men had a light on his head, which blinded the cameras and makes his face hard to see, while his partner was masking his face with a hoodie.

Well, not just is that inventory gone, but that is 48 guns that will presumably hit the street to be used in crimes.

If you think that insurance will cover this loss, you are sadly mistaken.  If some of the value of the stolen inventory is replaced, the subsequent increase in insurance premiums will be substantial.

I know for a fact that in the Jewelry world, items must be properly secured after hours for insurance purposes – I’m talking about in a UL rated TL15 or TL30 vault.

Secure storage is no joke.  If two jackasses with a hammer can come in through the glass front door than smash the glass display cases, security was a joke.

I have a buddy who works at a local FFL.  At closing, they take everything out of the display cases and put it in a walk-in vault.  It takes two guys about an hour.

I know a few other FFL that do the same or similar.  One I spent a lot of time at had several large safes in the back they took the shelves out of so they could stack boxes in them.

Even if this level of security is not mandated, it’s still a good idea.

Not one gun in my personal collection is at home, not locked up.  Most of my guns are in two custom-built, up-armored, Fort Knox vaults, but my bedroom and office guns are in biometric quick access safes, and everything lag bolted to studs or set in concrete anchors.

My homeowner’s insurance has a maximum $5,000 coverage limit on guns, which won’t cover replacing just the Merkel I inherited from my dad, so it was well worth it to me spend that much on secure storage.  My next house gets a rebar reinforced, poured concrete vault.

Miguel writes about security cameras a lot – and he’s right to, I’m not going to fault him on that.  But the presence of a camera didn’t deter this theft and the identification of these two gun thieves was thwarted by a hoodie and a headlamp.

This business just took a huge hit, and a lot of bad might hit the streets because of it, all to save a few bucks on security.

Lock up your guns.  That goes double for any of you thinking about getting an FFL.

It is said that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Well, half a ton of steel is worth a lot less than losing all of your inventory or collection.

More high level Portland lawlessness

The attitude of Portland seems to be that if you are a Leftist and you don’t like the law, you have free reign to break it at will without consequence.

We’ve seen this when the mayor allowed Antifa to go unmolested by police as they took over the streets of the city.

Now, we are seeing it from Portland Senator Ron Wyden.

Yes, I know that Wyden is a Democratic Senator from Oregon, but clearly, his heart resides in Portland.  Before he was Senator he was the Congressman from Oregon’s 3rd District, which includes most of Portland.

He decided to travel down to Mexico and engage in some human trafficking.

This is the kind of ridiculous shit that shows how insane the Left has become.

Portland is in the middle of a homelessness crisis, driven by opioid addiction.

It is so bad that the city has to have squads that go around picking up needles and power-washing human shit off city streets.

Did Senator Wyden find one homeless Oregonian having a medical crisis and drive him to a hospital?

Did Senator Wyden find one poor Oregonian woman with pregnancy complications that needed to go to the hospital?

No, because fuck American citizens the Donor class American Left don’t give a shit about them.

He has to find some foreign national to transport across the border and make the American taxpayer foot the bill for her healthcare.

To be clear, this is pure human trafficking.  I’ve read the US Constitution and nowhere does it give a US Senator the authority to do this.  I have a feeling that the only reason Border Patrol let him in is that they didn’t want to be caught on camera detaining a sitting Senator.

Which, frankly, is what should happen.

This is one of those moments where I want Trump to be maximum “don’t give a fuck Trump,” but I know he won’t be, and that’s disappointing.

ICE should go to Senator Wyden’s office and drag that piece of shit out in handcuffs for human smuggling.  But they won’t.

And the radical Portland Left will once again learn that they are free to break every law that they disagree with.

When women are truly treated like men, it gets fun to watch.

It did not end well.

YOU ARE FULL OF S***!” | CAUGHT ON CAMERA: A 65-year-old woman became aggressive with a Cashion police officer, kicking him and resisting arrest, after she refused to sign a $80 ticket for a broken tail light.

I think we are reaching (or have reached) the level where any special consideration for women is pretty much gone. The attitude of “I can get away with it” followed by the surprised face when they really don’t and end up in a ton of crap is just precious.  And for trying to escape a $80 ticket, the lady is facing 5 years in prison just on kicking the cop.

The Real Results of Gun Control

Only Government and Criminals will have guns.

I don’t have to repeat the story of gun control in Venezuela. They voted and got a government that proposed a general disarmament, volunteer and not so volunteer turning in of weapons in private hands and nasty penalties for any gun crime.  But you I know that is not the solution to “gun violence” and Venezuelans are getting not a taste, but a full 7 course meal on the unintended consequences of trusting the government with their safety.

Altagracia de Orituco is s small town some 50 mile SE Caracas way down in the boonies. It should be a quiet place, but unfortunately it is actually ran by a local criminal gang who apparently fear nobody because there is nobody to fear.

And also do not forget that criminal gangs roaming the streets and keeping unarmed  people sacred inside their houses serves as a “pacifier.” Juan and Maria will not bitch much and go out to bang pots and pans complaining about the lack of freedom  and lack of food if there is a chance they would be mow down by criminals.

Not a bug but a feature.

CNN is so wrong it got my hopes up with fake news

I saw this clip from CNN, reposted by the Washington Examiner.

Wait, what?  Did the Supreme Court take up a concealed carry case?

No, no they didn’t.  Not really.  This has to do with the New York City premises gun licenses.

The New York case concerned people who have licenses to possess guns at home, known as “premises” licenses, and already are allowed to take unloaded guns to shooting ranges within New York City. The plaintiffs said the city’s rules forbidding them from taking their guns to ranges or other homes outside city limits amounted to a “draconian” transport ban in violation of the Second Amendment.

Premises licenses are different from “carry” licenses, which give holders broader freedom to take guns outside the home and are not at issue in the case.

Theoretically, the court could pull a Roe v. Wade and legislate from the bench, essentially go all Moore v. Madigan on New York and force them to adopt some sort of shall-issue concealed carry.  That would be awesome but would be highly unlikely.

But you can see why CNN and Senator Murphy’s serious misstatement of what the court decision entails got my hopes up.

What is amazing about this clip is just how wrong a news anchor and a US Senator can be in whole 98 seconds.

Forgive me if I don’t think that a Progressive Democratic Senator from Connecticut has any idea what our Founding Fathers thought about gun rights.

The words are very clear:

the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

I don’t know how to make that any clearer.

Then again, when I read:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech

I don’t get forcing nuns to pay for abortions or banning hate speech out of those words the way Democrats do.

I’m pretty sure our Founding Fathers would have preferred gun laws circa 1933 where you can have a machine gun delivered to your door out of the Sears catalog than what Connecticut has now.

Lastly, semi-auto AK-47s only in Iraq and Afghanistan?

There was so much bullshit in that clip that AOC would have it banned by the Green New Deal.

Why David Simon is an a**hole.

Ans hypocrite also. My brain, with a slight delay, reminded me of an episode of his most famous show Homicide: Life on the Street episode (season 1, episode 9) – Night of the Dead Living. One of the subplots is that the detectives, doing a night shift without air conditioning in the Baltimore summer, find a baby inside a cage in the basement of the precinct.

Their emotions run the gamut. From wanting to start a lynching party to utmost care for the baby. It is finally found out that the baby belongs to a young woman who does the night cleaning and the reason she put the baby in the cage was so the rats would not bite him.

Simon made millions portraying Baltimore  a third world shithole country. But God forbids the President happens to tell the truth, and he loses his shit getting all high and mighty. Possibly because Trump messed with his Plantation.
