We are Just Three-Fifths.

Under Texas law, open carrying a rifle is not illegal as long as the gun is not loaded.

But San Antonio police Chief William McManus told KENS-TV that gun owners can still be charged with disorderly conduct if anyone feels threatened at any point during a demonstration. In other words, if anyone around you is uncomfortable with firearms, you could technically be charged with a crime.

“It’s a disorderly offense that officers will address accordingly,” the police chief said.

I don’t see this arrest holding on in court. Probably a misdemeanor but I would refuse to pay a fine and fight like crazy against jail time.

They don’t want us out in the streets mingling with them. they want us invisible, in our ghettos or preferably gone.

They don’t want us using public transportation, not even the back of the bus.

They don’t want us going to the coffee shops or eat at their lunch counters.

They want signs to be put up saying we are not welcome inside, only the selected group approved by them can partake of the location.

And when we have the cojones to exercise our rights, we are accused of being uppity and call for the law to “put us back in our place.”

We are “different.” They have the “scientific studies” that prove we are somehow inferior, dangerous, immoral, uneducated buffoons that should not mix with the good folks.

We need to be controlled, segregated, brought under the heel for our sake and the sake of the good folks.

For them we are just Three Fifths.

They better see the light soon.

The Road Not Taken | Cornered Cat

Okay, let’s bring this back to my world – the world of self defense. I need to beg your indulgence and forgiveness for something I have done in the past, something I vow here to never to do again. From this date forward, I will do my best never to second guess a survivor. “Well, if you’d only (said this, done that, moved this way or asserted yourself in that way)…”

That’s an expert’s lie. It’s a trap I’ve fallen into in the past, to my shame. Because it is a lie. It presupposes that the expert can somehow see down an untaken road into a future that never happened. But she can’t see down that road any more than you could, either in the past or today. An expert does have some specialized knowledge, but she can’t see into the future, not even an unchosen future.

Go read. We analyze what happened and learn for future possibilities. Not for “He should have done this“.. but for the “I may want to try this alternative  IF faced with the same situation to get a better outcome.”

Of course, we may never face that “What If..” Life is cruel that way.

Moms Demand Action: I do not think it means what you think it means.

From the Moms Demand Victims Action Twitter feed:
MDA 1st amTwitter is a weird communication tool. My guess is that the lack of character length makes for messages that need to be simple and sometimes the Truth escapes without them realizing it.

Now, you can take the above tweet in one of two fashions: Rank stupidity and lack of knowledge about how well protected is the First Amendment and the “danger” that could be treating the Second Amendment the same (Just think Public Armories, like a Public Library) or treating the First Amendment the same way the Second is treated which I would not put pass them and the rest of the Freedom-Thwarting idiots.

Of course there is the third option of being both stupid and dangerous to our Freedoms and that is what we should expect as it is the most dangerous.

$7,500.00? Sorry, I’ll give you $20 for it.

This Smith and Wesson was engraved by a renown engraver in Germany, and is for the discerning collector of erotica. The elephant Ivory grips are pre ban 1989 when Ivory was still being used by artists. It is .38 Caliber with a two and a half inch barrel, it had one owner and it does not appear it ever was fired other than initially after it’s completion

I read years ago that Germans have 2 gifts: Organization and Vulgarity.

CSGV: Getting Good Quality Information.

Apparently the latest fashion on transmitting information to the users is the infographic which is nothing more than a cute, baby food way of delivering certain bits of info with the help of catchy graphics. Of course, GIGO applies
CSGV infographic 1
The infographic goes and “tell us all about the bad and racist thing that Stand Your Ground Laws are. As usual is filled with the misinformation we have been getting from the usual suspects and that  the Cult Coalition to Stoop Gun Rights Violence is more than happy and willing to spread.

I decided to check what else was in this particular site (topcriminaljusticedegrees.org) and the first thing I find is another infographic accusing the US Military, our fighting men and women, of War Crimes.

CSGV infographic 2Quote: “Very few countries have violated as many humanitarian laws and codes of war on such a large scale, and for such an extended period. The vast political leverage of the United States, the rising indifference of media coverage, and the alleged need of secrecy for matters of national security have largely enabled one of the bloodiest 50 years in human history.

Also, both infographics make clear that it is the owner or owners of this particular website are responsible for the infographics.

CSGV infographic 3CSGV infographic 4So CSGV obtains some of its material from a source who is openly accusing the US of being just like the Soviet Union, Nazi Germany, Cuba, Communist China, etc.

And who knows? probably they believe it themselves.

The Legalities of the New Executive Order | Shall Not Be Questioned

However, there’s a provision of the Firearms Owners Protection Act of 1986 that made it legal to import any firearm that is a Curio and Relic, regardless of its sporting purpose suitability. This means anything that’s on the C&R list, or anything more than 50 years old is importable by law. This EO won’t do anything to affect the import of surplus military arms that originated overseas, like the Mosin-Nagant, Enfields, or Mauser. Even the M1 Garand and M1 Carbine are C&R, and are therefore blanket importable, regardless of what the Attorney General may want to determine about its sporting purpose.

Third Party Intervention….it can go wrong.

Just before a passerby captured the video, Mossberg’s attorney said he saw Detective Archer beating a young girl, Megan Adamescu. “I see someone beat the hell out and brutalizing the woman, punching her in the face. A defenseless woman, who is clearly not a threat to anyone,” said Attorney for Adamescu, Menachem Mayberg

The concierge at the South Bay Club where Adamescu was staying called police to get her to leave because she was allegedly intoxicated. It was detective Archer who responded to the scene without a uniform and in his personal car after an undercover narcotics sting a few blocks away. “She remembers the officer not identifying himself. She remembers all she wanted was her purse back to find out who it was that was looking through her purse and taking her passport,” said Mayberg.

via WSVN-TV – Good Samaritan and woman claim police brutally attacked for no wrongdoing.

Let’s keep the “who is at fault here” part out of the discussion and analyze the worst case scenario for a Good Samaritan: Things ain’t what they seem and you may get yourself in a mess of trouble for trying to do what you perceive is the right thing.

I admit my own ideas on this subject change every day: one day I get skimpy and I tell myself that I will take action only if I see a child being hurt (and with my luck the child will be a serial arsonist/killer midget dressed as a toddler) and other days I widen my field to include the weak” and the handicapped.

I am afraid that other than total abstinence in intervention, there is no good solution. Do I make a costly mistake and possibly hurt somebody who does not deserve it and end up in handcuffs or do I learn to live with the remorse of not doing something it was in my hands and capability to do and save a life?

Gun Zen is a bitch.
