Roger Moore passed away after a brief battle with cancer. I know Connery gets all the props and Moore never got the respect, but he was my Bond.
His movies had the best stunts and best music. And it is fitting in my opinion to say goodbye with Carly Simon.
Moore was the ‘strangest’ pick for Bond to me (not that I didn’t like his portrayal of the character) as he was nearly three years older than Connery and took over when he was 45 years old.
I wasn’t fond of him as Bond- in the books Bond was basically a troubleshooter for her Majesty’s Government (“Bond, I want you to find out who’s making trouble and shoot them for us”); Connery did a good job and Tim Dalton was superb but Moore was always too smarmy for my tastes- but he was the definitive modern Simon Templar. Not so bad for the son of a policeman.
