Scott refuses to ban guns during RNC convention  and the CSGV calls it “idiotic” and a “radical Interpretation of the Second Amendment”.

Normal people call it legal.

Plus, it is damn clear that the request from Mayor Bob Buckhorn (Democrat) is just political B.S. trying score points: Governor Scott says no ban and he is an uncaring bastard who has no regard for the possibility of people getting killed during a hot & contested political event like…Democratic Conventions? Oh yes, wrong party. If Scott had caved, then they could have said that even the Republican Governor of the GunSunshine State understands that banning guns in certain circumstances is not only OK but necessary, that Republicans are scared of their base and whatever other associated crap they can come up with.

UPDATE: Via The Buzz

Part of the response by Gov. Scott to Mayor Buckhorn:

“it is unclear how disarming law-abiding citizens would better protect them from the dangers and threats posed by those who would flout the law.” “It is at just such times that the constitutional right to self-defense is most precious and must be protected from government overreach,”

  1. Notice that the first comment by Anne Lynch can be interpreted to mean that she is torn because she does support banning guns BUT she wouldn’t mind if a bunch of republicans got into a gun fight with each other. The opening “LOL” adds evidence to this interpretation. Yet another example of “Why are liberals so violent?”

  2. As a former Floridian, I think Scott Brown made a reasonable arguement. Guns are banned on convention center property, which is private property, and completely legal. But how exactly does banning a licenced Florica CCW holder from carying concealed on a public street a few blocks from the GOP convention reduce the likelyhood of crime at the convention?

    1. Safety wise it never made sense. I don’t think guns were banned in Miami during the Free Trade Area of the Americas in 2003 and that was chockfull of Anarchist that got their asses handed over.
Now imagine some poor Occupy bastard trying to toss a Molotov cocktail into a store nearby the convention with the owner inside just to find out the hard way Florida allows the use of deadly force to stop forcible felonies like arson.

My bet is that the Mayor wanted some trouble to brew for the cameras. He is a democrat.
