And our friends Heat Exhaustion and Heat Stroke will want to pay a visit. Don’t let them. Avoid overexerting yourselves and if possible, stay the hell away from the sun from 10 AM till at least 2 PM.

Hot Weather is here again. – Gun Free Zone

Cool off the head. Cold compresses to the back and top of the skull should help. One in each armpit and one below the sternum should help lower inner core temps. But if you suspect the damage is worse, seek help right then and there. Intravenous might be necessary.

  1. We keep dill pickles handy for the electrolytes. Heat cramps are no joke either, and pickles/pickle juice DO what gatorade claims to do. When I was a grunt we’d keep a baggy of pickles in our packs for forced marches. Dill, not sweet. Thanks for the reminder.

  2. Did you ever see any of the research done like 15 years ago about cooling the body by circulating cold water through a device that you grip? It was being researched with the idea of helping soldiers cool off and avoid the strokes. Iirc they were surprised to find cooling using the hands was one of the most effective ways.

  3. Darned good advice from all of ya’ll. We had dill pickle slices served in semi-frozen pickle juice slush that worked a treat during football practice. Eat the slices then toss back the dill pickle slushi. Then have some water then back on the line.

    Mr. Miguel how’s the weather in your new stomping grounds compared to that little slice of lake dino heaven in Florida?
