And the expected reaction from the Ron Paul Cult members is already happening:
In between fits and snot drips, they are denouncing treason and the end of the Second Amendment. They are also threatening to hold their breath until such time Ron Paul is elected President for Life and free ammo is available and delivered by Oompa Loompas singing “My Heart Will Go On.
OK people, your guy lost. Hell, my guy withdrew and even though I am not particularly fond of the choices, I understand that keeping the actual resident in the White House because my guy didn’t win is like asking a battered woman to stay with her husband because I could not procure her Brad Pitt as new mate.
Find your testicles, man up and join the fight. Or go watch Oprah while the adults work.
Such harshness! Yeah, I’ll vote for Shi** Nominee. I ain’t gotta like it though.
I don’t like it either. Next has to be the decapitation of the RNC, sort of like the Cincinnati revolt.
Keeping with that analogy though, electing Romney is more like setting up the battered woman with Chris Brown. Sure he has a history of abusing women, but he hasn’t hit YOU yet, so maybe this time it’ll be different.
So you are voting for Obama or staying home…..but I repeat myself.
There are these things called third parties or even write ins. If you have to compromise your beliefs and principles to win, you’ve already lost.
{sigh}
Your post implies a false dichotomy with the two options being support Romney or not defend gun rights. I believe supporting Romney and supporting gun rights are mutually exclusive as Romney has a strong history of violating the rights of gun owners.
At this point I think the only option gun owners have to protect their rights is a change in tactics. The Second Amendment Foundation has been doing a good job in this regard. Instead of supporting political candidates they have been filing lawsuits against those who violate the rights of gun owners. This tactic managed to accomplish something the NRA’s tactics never did, incorporation of the Second Amendment.
If they NRA wishes to stay its course and fight by supporting political candidates I believe their only viable option at this point is giving up on this year’s presidential election and focusing on the legislature. So long as the majority of legislators are unwilling to pass gun control measures it really becomes irrelevant what the president will do, he can’t sign what isn’t there. At the most the president can seat Supreme Court justices but I have no faith in Romney seating justices that would be any different than the ones Obama would seat.
This is why it’s so important to have multiple organizations fighting for individual rights. An organization can get so locked into their method of fighting that they are unable to change gears when that method is no longer viable, a trap I believe the NRA is currently caught up in. With multiple organizations you get a diversity of tactics, which makes it far more difficult to stop. One of the biggest failures of gun control advocates was focusing solely on appealing to emotions in order to garner support for legislation. Eventually people stopped buying and they fell into irrelevancy.
The Second Amendment Foundation has been doing a good job in this regard.
Indeed they have.
they have been filing lawsuits against those who violate the rights of gun owners
That is their forte.
This tactic managed to accomplish something the NRA’s tactics never did, incorporation of the Second Amendment.
And you were doing so well…. So, years of supporting ProGun or anybody who would favorably vote for Gun rights for Congress and Senate, being the most efficient weapon that helped defeat Gore in 2000 (even admitted by our adversaries) which led to the placement of the proper Justices in SCOTUS so the Second Amendment Foundation could successfully argue both Heller & McDonald is chump change?
At the most the president can seat Supreme Court justices but I have no faith in Romney seating justices that would be any different than the ones Obama would seat.
I don’t know and you don’t know what kind of Justices Romney will seat. However we damn well know the kind of Justices Obama has seated, they are not the most pro 2A in the world and he will repeat the same song. If the choices are He Will F*** You and He Might F*** you, masochism is the wrong answer.
If we’re boned either way- then we should go with the guy who will at least pretend to like us.
Eric Holder alone is reason to get Obama out of office.
Joe. Nahhh…with the truly heinous stuff that’s been passed through congress, hit O’s desk and been signed into law recently? The “Soap Box” hasn’t worked recently. The “ballot box” is a complete waste at this point.
What’s not to love about Romney? He echos my views on every topic, and if you needed any more proof he’s the best – just watch who the Republicans nominate! Democrats bad, Republicans good. Don’t waste your vote – vote Romney for a better republic!
*facepalm* You do realize he was ‘SELECTED, STAMPED and APPROVED’ as the ONLY candidate by the Republican National Committee within 30 mins of the very first debate right?
I really like the idea of Josh Horwitz delivering my ammo.
Closest thing to capital punishment one can imagine. 🙂
Enjoy yourselves when Van Jones and the Panthers come for your stuff guys. I’m sure once you tell them you voted for RP they’ll leave you alone, maybe even throw you a fist bump and call you ‘mah brutha’
So very true.
Anyone but Obama. Romney is here, and Ron Paul can go plot for his next failed chance.
To me, he’s worthy of Treasury Secretary position. Nothing more. And suspect number one if everyone above him dies while in that position.
Too bad my guy withdrew due to baseless charges by asswipes being paid to say lies.
Ahhh, my friend. If it weren’t for the fact he’d be a complete and utter fucking disaster Foreign Policy wise…I could have voted for Ron Paul cheefrully. Sadly though…he was no where near my first choice…neither was fucking Romney. I suspect you and I had the same candidate
Most likely.
He’s an alright dude, his foreign policy views scare the fuck outta me. I may be a conservative, and a small government one at that. But it doesn’t mean I’m willing to sacrifice the budget we give to the State Department (provided they don’t blow it on million dollar ‘conferences’ in Vegas) since they’re the ‘knock and ask nicely’ part of our foreign relations.
Jusuchin, Ahhh the state department. Do you recall the big brouhaha in the UN and other places when the UN was given a report of all of Americas heinous human rights violations? That WAS our own State Dept’s doing.
Yep. I know.
If you ask me. State Department has so much power to INFLUENCE the rest of the world without sending in the Navy with a strike force.
Bastards aren’t man enough. I would’ve pulled aid from several countries years ago.
