After another tragic weekend of gun violence, including the death of a 1-year-old, two members of the Black community called on the NYPD to bring back the recently disbanded Anti-Crime Unit to help get guns off the street.
It was a dramatic moment — Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams holding up a pair of baby shoes Monday after a 1-year-old became the latest victim of gun violence, caught in the crossfire at a family barbecue just hours before.
“Babies are not supposed to be wearing these in a coffin,” Adams said.
Adams, a former cop, became the second member of the African-American community to call on the NYPD to stop the violence by re-instituting the Anti-Crime Unit — undercover cops whose job was to get guns off the street. The unit was disbanded during the anti-cop protest that shook the city.
“I think that a total elimination is something we need to reevaluate,” said Adams. “Right now, bad guys are saying if you don’t see a blue and white you can do whatever you want.”
Activists screaming “defund the cops” have caused the biggest loss in morale in police history. The NYPD is retiring by the hundreds. The anti-crime unit was suspended.
And the black neighborhoods of NYC run red with blood.
The result has been disastrous.
Some black people seem to actually care about curbing in the violence but you know they are going to be accused of being race traitors by BLM.
BLM may say “black lives matter” but by body count you can tell that they don’t really mean it.
The rich and influential paternalistic woke white liberals that push these stupid regressive ideas will not be affected in the least by these stupid ideas.
They live in their safe lily white neighborhoods with their private security, their gated security buildings with their doormen and then go to their lily white Security access controlled building working in their lily white executive suites, and later go to their lily white cocktail parties where they meet their lily white friends and talk about how threir kids are doing in their lily white private schools, and where they are going to vacation in their lily white ski resorts, beach resorts, and old money lily white beach communities.
Ninety Percent of the blacks, hispanics and asians they do encounter are carefully vetted employees who do service work and other menial tasks.
The rich woke paternalistic White Liberals never encounter the crazy street people, the petty thieves, the street dealers that their menial employees live amongst as the poor and middle class employees try to stay alive and unharmed and employed.
Like all good intentioned Liberals, they never, ever have to live with the terrible results of their decisions. That is for the little people.
To be fair, the lily white woke progressives will have various pet primitives around, in the same way old aristocrats had jesters and hermits in their courts.
Someone with the right skin color to say radical things so the progressives can feel Oh So Tolerant and Open Minded. Someone to call for the left version of repentance, so the lily white left can make superficial changes- and virtue signal at length about it.
A nice example: when the rioters tracked down her address and accosted her at home, Seattle’s mayor immediately closed down CHAZ. Rioting is fine so long as it doesn’t bother the power elite.
