Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez doubled down.

Yesterday there were 14 shootings in New York City, leaving 18 people wounded.

One suspect committed three drive-by shootings.

He must have been really hungry.

The idea that all this violence is the result of not enough people getting not enough unemployment money is ridiculous.

How does getting $600 per week from the federal government stop someone who would commit three drive-by shootings from committing said shootings?

That isn’t an issue of a lack of money, it’s an issue of a lack of morals.

Perhaps, the connection is that the kinds of people who would commit three drive-by shooting or kill a one-year-old while sitting in his stroller are unemployable and doomed to poverty.

But I’m just a privileged white Republican, so my facts and logic are irrelevant.

  1. Miss “Sandy” from Westchester needs to check her “afluent white hispanic privilege,” to use her fellow commie progtards words, before preaching about poverty & crime, neither of which she had to confront in her silver-spooned sheltered life.
Only morons with IQs in the single digits believe her bullshit about being poor growing up.

  2. That isn’t an issue of a lack of money, it’s an issue of a lack of morals.

That’s part of it. Other parts are lack of opportunity (starting with bad schools, and parents who don’t care how their kids do), the culture they are immersed in, and a lack of fundamental dignity and self-respect (of the healthy, not narcissistic, kind). And other factors of course.

Basically, there is no quick fix for this. It took a couple of generations to get here, it will likely take yet longer to get out. Starting with, of course, recognition of causes and convincing people that turning down all the “assistance” associated with the tranny of low expectations, is the right move even if it’s hard.

    1. No, lack of opportunity does not explain lack of morals. Bad culture does. I believe MLK pointed this out half a century ago.
There are plenty of honest poor people whose poverty can be explained by lack of opportunity.

  3. Maybe I have been living in some parallel dimension my whole life, but….
Republicans have always connected the dots between poverty and crime.

The problem that Alexandria DonkeyChompers is upset about is they come to a different conclusion on how to address that problem. Republicans see jobs and earning a living as a way to get people out of poverty, and reduce crime, whereas Occasionally Coherent only sees government handouts as an avenue to pull people out of poverty.

Like most toddlers, err…. I mean leftists, AOC is too busy trying to treat the symptom with the simplest approach possible, that she ignores the root cause of the problem.

    1. Possibly, if it is indeed the case that her incoherent ravings are caused by ignorance or stupidity. I don’t really believe that. (Certainly not ignorance — that’s curable as Heinlein pointed out.) Instead, the best explanation is malice: she’s spouting malicious falsehoods as a means to an evil end.

  4. She has the IQ of your average houseplant. Irrelevant to me. I ignore any content related to this idiot. Not worth gettin yer blood pressure up …

  5. Wrong yet again, AOC. I have East Indian relatives and despite severe poverty in parts of India, crime and violence is relatively rare there. It is a cultural thing. Stop pretending poverty or rare racism creates violence. You are a liar.

The people committing the most violent crime in America are not starving and going without the basic necessities of life. They are not forced into a life of crime, moron. They are gang members and often fatherless youth in your Democrat run cities. Your policies (releasing criminals, weak sentencing, defunding police) and excusing their bad behavior promotes it. Go to Hell, you ignorant, racist, spawn of Satan.

  6. There is a connection between poverty and crime, but it’s the reverse connection. Neighborhoods with high crime rates have poverty; why would persons put their blood, sweat, and tears into building business and the associated growth for the area in a high crime neighborhood?

In other words, in many ways, crime causes poverty, not the other way around. Occasionally Coherent has her cause and effect exactly backward. And yes, the crime is cultural, not born of poverty.

Only one rule: Don't be a dick.
