Where a Hispanic Catholic, and a Computer Geek write about Gun Rights, Self Defense and whatever else we can think about.

Semi-retired like Vito Corleone before the heart attack. Consiglieri to J.Kb and AWA. I lived in a Gun Control Paradise: It sucked and got people killed. I do believe that Freedom scares the political elites.

I don’t have to like the artist to admire the talent involved in the art.
If you’re into that sort of “romantic balled” Barry Manilow was a master. He wrote many, many good songs of that sort, and his voice is iconic.
Ironically, when I was in high school back in the ’70’s, I was mainly into rock: Journey, Foreigner, AC/DC, Rush, Styx, etc etc. But I was raised in a musical family and was a tenor in choir. My voice was very well suited for that “ballad” style of music and Barry Manilow’s music fit my vocal range almost perfectly. I did many of his songs in solo choir competitions back in the day and I still like his classic stuff. My all time favorite is “Weekend in New England”.
Anyway, thanks for the memories and I agree with you, Mandy is a great song.
Gotta disagree about this one, not my thing. But here’s an anecdote. He is said to have said that he knew he had a hit when he would play it live at the bar he was working. And the bartenders would turn off the blenders. That didn’t happen for his other songs. And Bette Midler was totes pissed off because she was overseas at the time and when she got back she had lost her piano player because that had been his day job.
