I have a friend who expressed the following in Facebook

I have to say, all the slapping around of an old ass (recovering) drunk Indian is starting to feel like beating up the local “special needs” kid. I mean, sure, you can do it, but it doesn’t feel good.

I think there’s a point where going after him as harshly as he deserves starts to make us look like the bullies. What do you think? I’ll stipulate that he’s a liar, a poor excuse for a Marine, and a bully. I’ll also stipulate that he deserves everything he’s got coming. My question is, does our piling on make us look bad?

I understand my friend’s point, specially knowing he is what regular folks a good person. But we are engaged in what somebody called a Cold Civil War and it is my belief that Phillips still needs a good dose of dragging over the coals.  A video can be misconstrued. but the honorable thing would have been to step up and stop the fake narrative in the many interviews he had, yet he chose to support and augment the lie and it was profitable to him.  And lest not forget he did that inciting hate so much, he put high school kids, who had done nothing to him or anybody, in danger of bodily harm.

Does it make us look bad? Unfortunately, breathing the same air as the Chose Ones makes us look bad. We are Gun Owners so we got the image of monsters sometime in the Clinton Administration and then Terrorists after 9/11.

So, I am for the total destruction of the Nathan Phillips persona and have it rebuilt as ” liar, a poor excuse for a Marine, and a bully” and then some more. He deserves punishment and part of it is to serve as an example for future political con artists that actions come with serious consequences and we are playing with their own rules now and the shit is for keeps.

So yes, keep piling on the recon ranger, codename Whirlpool Warrior who sneaked behind enemy lines in Vietnam and stealthily fixed the Vietcong’s refrigerators.

  1. Part of it is that we have been taught to be nice to “old people “, but Nathan interjected himself into a situation and in the past nobody would delve into his background. But the conservatives no longer roll over for the liberal outrage machine as they used to do. Now we look for the truth rather than apologize and concede the moral high ground to the left.

  2. Heh. I can only say, “You want some popcorn, while I’m up?”

I’m really enjoying the memes coming out of the Fridge Raider’s encounter with the children. I particularly enjoy the fact that, despite the initial hatred thrown their way, standing tall and silently led to the “Cold Warrior” getting the mocking pimpslapping (sadly, only metaphorically) that he richly deserves.

  3. Say he’s burned to the ground, social media wise.

What’s the real world impact on him?

And whatever that impact is it’s going to be a hell of a lot less, integrated over the remaining lifespan, than it is for the kids.

  4. I agree with your guy, kind of. Piling on Phillips won’t teach any other activist who tries to bait a MAGA hat kit from doing it. They assume we’re piling on Phillips because he’s a Native/POC and not because he’s a lying activist scumbag.

What we need to do is figure out how to hasten the death of the media orgs that made Phillips story mainstream.

Is there, or can software geniuses on our side develop, a platform that allows us to get around paywalls, avoid scoring clicks for these sites, and make advertisers know that we don’t like their money going to partisan mendacious shit-peddlers?

We also need to make it easier to sue these people for libel and start bankrolling lawsuits against these orgs.

Every time they write and OpEd how some guy in a MAGA hat getting kicked out of a restaurant is a good thing or private parochial schools are just Hitler Youth camps (both of those examples really happened) we kick them right in the bank account so they have to kick another hack with $100K in student loans to the Columbia J-School to the street.

    That’s how we win.

P.S. I’ll create and avatar this weekend.

    1. “What we need to do is figure out how to hasten the death of the media orgs that made Phillips story mainstream.”

That’s where we need to pile on.

The process goes like this. Peaceful “undesirable” (conservative/gun owner/freedom lover) watches some event.
      That person gets noticed
Event goers decide they are offended by “whatever”
They provoke this person, in an ever escalating manner until such person reacts.
Video of the reaction goes viral. Victim becomes aggressor.
Narrative grows, and any attempts to “pile onto” the original aggressor (the faux victim) will appear as bullying.

On the other hand, if we attack the narrative, instead of the individual. Pile onto the story and the media that carry it. Next time there is a “MAGA Hat” incident, make the real videos of Phillips front and center as part of your argument against fake news. (Or similar).

While Phillips is not a nice man, and definitely deserves to be exposed as the fraud he is, making him a martyr is not the right move.

  5. Take no prisoners
    Burn the villages
    Salt the earth
And the next time someone does something like this, repeat the process using the Todd Jarrett 20% harder rule.

They’re going to call you a racist hater whether you fight back or not, so make it more and more unpleasant for them until they stop.

  6. Scumbags like him deserve worse, the fact that it hasn’t happened yet (or to any of the other vile pieces of shit who think rape and murder are funny when wished on their political opponents) is proof that the current ‘troubles’ are still at the point where they can dialed back (assuming the evil side doesn’t keep escalating, which Congresswoman ‘child sex slaves are just a radical form of change’ suggest is not the case). Personally, I’m glad I don’t have any children to subject to what’s likely to come. This shit has every inclination of getting much, much, worse before there’s any chance of it getting better.
