TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (CAPITOL NEWS SERVICE) – Newly-proposed legislation filed by Democratic state lawmakers wants to close loopholes that exempt private gun sales from background checks…
…“Eighty percent of guns used in violent crimes, were purchased without a background check,” said Representative Margaret Good.
Bill filed to create universal background checks for gun buyers
That would be HB – 135 Transfer of Firearms which is one of the Gun Control’s useless Holy Grails. I understand why she is lying: 1) Media won’t do a fact check even if it kills them and 2) we have a new slate of young voters who are just ripe to have their brains filled with bullshit. The same people who not long ago did the tide Pod challenge and now are starting to engage in the Bird Box Challenge, will not bother to actually use due diligence and find out the truth and find out that most guns used in crime come not from private sales of law-abiding individuals but illegal trafficking in stolen firearms.
Now, in all probability, she is trying to be smart/sneaky and say that purchasing a gun is purchasing a gun, whether among good citizens or felons. It is like saying that buying the hot rod you saw your neighbor build is the same as Ramon selling a carjacked Impala to a chop shop in Opa-Locka. Lying sacks of political manure will do that kind of thing betting that people will not catch up till it is too late, but it is OK to do because it is for their “safety.”
It’s not lying, it’s just not the WHOLE truth.
The punk who robs a convenience store probably got his gun from some asshole on the street corner who traded a stolen gun to a junkie for drugs.
Or some gang member bought it from a cousin who bought it as a straw purchase.
It is accurate to say those guns were ultimately sold without a background check to a criminal.
What proponents of UBCs never explain is how they will force the local drug and stolen gun dealer to do a background check on the punk or will force the cousin’s girlfriend to to a background check on gang member couz.
It’s not two guys trading at a gun show, or grandpa Bob buying a Cricket for little Billy that is the problem, but they are the ones who will suffer.
Funny that…she says 80%, technically she is correct, but it is disingenuous at best. The local banger got his gun without a background check because he is already a …FELON and cant buy a gun legally under our existing laws. Lets make another law that at best will change little and at worse will be a backdoor registration because the government never throws information away…even if they are supposed to.
Why I always quote Absence of Malice? Accurate but not the truth.
What happened to the press? They never touch the leftist darlings. It’s disgusting.
