I guess enough people complained that the Miami Herald finally gave it up: Combating Violence Disorder and Looting and Law Enforcement Protection Act
Mosy of the bill tags people with misdemeanors for silly stuff. Now things get stupid when we are talking about throwing projectiles of any kind to either Civilians or Law enforcement and those go straight for the Felony patch.
But I believe this is the part that has collective Media panties all twisted, it is all the way to the end of the document.
IANAL WARNING! You may proceed now.
Looting is now officially a forcible felony. I would have thought to be included in burglary, but I figure it is now clarified. I do believe the Criminal Mischief will be kicked back unless it is narrowed. The definition in the statutes is way too ample and it may be reversed in the courts. Arson was already a forcible felony, but this adds the interruption of business thing that should not matter one way or another: Arson is arson and a forcible felony.
Of course, not being a lawyer, there might be something legal I am missing and which explains why this would make sense.
And in case you don’t know them, here are Florida’s Forcible Felonies that allow for Justifiable Use of Force.
