I’ve been covering the Democrat response to the popularity of the tax cuts. It is a glorious mix of condescension and elitism.
Nancy Pelosi is just not stopping.
She sent out, what is quite possibly, the worst economic Tweet of the year.
Pretty obnoxious the GOP thinks workers should be weak-kneed with gratitude for corporations giving them pennies while pocketing a multi-billion dollar tax break stolen from the future of the middle class. #GOPTaxScam pic.twitter.com/ulLIexUf4q

Holy shit!
It’s clear that this is what they actually believe. That rich Republicans are hording the money and tax breaks and bonuses are just crumbs dolled out to weak and stupid people who are powerless to help themselves.
One of the fastest ways to prove how economically stupid you are is to talk about “corporations” or “the corporations” like they are sentient and malevolent entities.
Pelosi and Democrats like her are trying to sell the message that people should HATE THE EXTRA MONEY IN THEIR PAYCHECK because… envy.
This is, first of all, a Communist mentality. That is not an exaggeration on my part.
More than that, other than in the most impenetrable ideologues, it’s a horrible selling point.
The way most Americans seem to be seeing this is:
“The economy took a shit in 2008. I voted for Obama. For eight years I didn’t get a raise or a bonus, but the executives who ran the banks that had to be bailed out by Obama did.
I didn’t vote for Trump but after one year of Trump in office, I got a raise/bonus, and am not afraid of coming into work and being downsized.
Maybe Trump was right.“
This is fucking horrifying for Democrats, and they are going to try and crush it. I just don’t think they are going to be able to.
The elites got bonuses under Obama, the Middle Class didn’t. Both did under Trump. The Democrats can’t wave that away all that easily and the people
So they are going to try and make them hate money.
THE LACK OF INTELLIGENCE, AND STUPID ARE STRONG WITH THIS GROUP OF DIMWITS….
Expect a lot of maneuvers this year designed to wreck the economy. They will be working hard to bring about a recession, because they figure that’s the one way they will be able to win.
Which could backfire if it only happens in the deep blue states, and probably will.
This is what happens when a political party cuts off all feedback, listens only to itself, and drinks it’s own ink.
The old time Democratic party made an actual effort to represent the old blue collar guys, and that kept it on a fairly even, though Left leaning keel.
However, the young people that took it over in the McGovern era saw those blue collar voters as reactionaries, too deplorable to be a dependable partner in progress, and began to cut them off.
Instead, they began to listen more to the ivory tower college crowd, which was squeezing out and purging anyone with dissenting views. For them, the more radical, the more “authentic”, because there’s less bourgeoisie taint.
Which led to the thankful conditions of the 2016 election, where Hillary’s campaign actively refused to hear any advice or criticism from the mere peons in the state level parties, because they had their model, dammit! and you better just do what you are told!
And it appears that the Democratic party still has not learned a lesson from this, but has gone even more radical. It is very likely that 2020 will be a repeat of the 1984 election, especially if they run some refurbished literally old party hack like Kerry.
Kerry. Kerry! Kerry!!! Ah, now THERE’S my dream candidate! Fop in Vietnam, traitor once he returned, Mr Heinz in his personal life, out of touch as a private-jetting-Algore, and with a personality your average Joe thinks would benefit from 20 honest minutes out by the bike racks, or behind the bar. With sap gloves. Kinda like Mrs. Clinton, without the warm fuzzy nonverbals.
Not only did I get a handsome raise this year (25% increase) but I’m also going to save about $2500 in withholdings this year. I’m shopping for a new truck because of that savings and raise combo. So far, Trump has done more to convince me to vote for him than I thought he would in his first year… and yes, the owner of my company directly attributed his reinvestment into the company to the 14% he won’t have to pay to the feds this year.
Well there’s the problem. You and your boss are using that money to buy stuff.
Wouldn’t it be better if the government took that money and spent it on more government programs to investigate the means to begin a government department for government programs that are supposed to make your life better instead?
True, you wouldn’t have a new truck, (and the people who make & sell it wouldn’t have that money), your boss wouldn’t be able to do what he wants to do, and so on… but hey, you would be happy in the knowledge that your money was helping a highly paid government bureaucrat go to a 5 star resort to discuss the problem of you not having that money.
I am aware you are being facetious but the fact that this comment could be seriously made by your average coastal elitist shows just how fucked up our country is today. Poe’s Law has never been more relevant.
I’ve actually pointed this out before- asking what’s the goal- to either get people actually working a job, or perpetual government programs that are supposed to make jobs.
May I suggest a 2500 Ram pickup. Dodge announced that they a moving production from Mexico back to the United States. Once again a truck made in Michigan.
