As like the old one, it is purely decorative but the new versions is done via 3D Printer.
And OK, they look cool.
I am sure the soldiers will welcome less weight on their heads for prolonged hours.

They are Swiss soldiers. Their sense of humor was surgically removed the day they enlisted.
To be a Swiss Guard, you have to have served in the Swiss version of the Rangers. They make look decorative, but they will kill you if they have to.
Same as the Queen’s Guard in the UK.
I’d like to do something like that out of a Kevlar reinforced composite. Functional and decorative.
