According to officials, the man who fatally shot the subject is a Walmart employee. Police said he was walking to his car in the Walmart parking lot, when he was approached by a man with a gun. That’s when police said, the victim, who has a concealed weapons permit, pulled out his gun and opened fire.
Another example of poor victim selection. We stand-by to hear the lamentations of the criminal’s family about how a good boy he was, leader of his church, family man, etc. but in the meantime they can go ahead and order the necessary supplies for the internment at the same location.
There are worse ways to go than “shot by Walmart employee,” but it’s not what I’d want on my obituary.
I do believe this is the second defensive shooting at a Walmart this week. What was refreshing to hear was this comment from a family member of the Walmart employee,
“Jones added that her entire family has concealed weapons permits.”

The part you didn’t mention: that this guy was probably fired for defending himself. Walmart has a pretty strict “don’t fight back” employee policy.
I know they do, but Florida has the “Guns in Parking Lot” law, so WalMart may face criminal and civil prosecution if the guy is fired.
It was before his work shift, in his personal vehicle. Walmart should have no reason for disciplinary action.
Walmart owns the parking lots, so they can enforce their rules about no guns….unless you have legislation protecting workers from being fired because they have a gun in the car.

Further, no public or private employer may take any action against a customer, employee, or invitee based upon verbal or written statements of any party concerning possession of a firearm stored inside a private motor vehicle in a parking lot for lawful purposes. A search of a private motor vehicle in the parking lot of a public or private employer to ascertain the presence of a firearm within the vehicle may only be conducted by on-duty law enforcement personnel, based upon due process and must comply with constitutional protections.”
