How many times have we heard “I used to be Liberal and anti-gun, but I got (beaten-robbed-shot-raped-etc.) and now I know better”?

I don’t like conversion therapy, I don’t agree with conversion therapy, I don’t know of any peer-reviewed evidence demonstrating that conversion therapy has any efficacy whatsoever…
…but, no, the state should absolutely not be allowed to dictate to psychology professionals how to treat their patients.
