“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations has been 200 years.”
― Alexis de Tocqueville.

In case you have not noticed, we have taken the first step into becoming a Third World country. What we do from now on will decide if we get out of the mud or become rooting pigs, ready for future slaughter.

There are millions of Americans celebrating today. If my calculations are right, in more or less 12 months they will be crying for relief looking at a Federal Government that will be incapable of providing it. After that is only time till the resentment fester and becomes action.

Be ready to step aside and let them deal with each other. The threat will not come from us but their own creations and expectations. We will be accused as the ones creating the problem as they need an enemy to disguise their own uselessness. For that we will be ready and they will seek softer targets.

In a weird sense it is amusing to see that the tales of be careful what you wish for was ignored by such cunning political minds.

For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind: it hath no stalk: the bud shall yield no meal: if so be it yield, the strangers shall swallow it up.
Hosea 8:7

        1. Here in Colorado, you the bottom line seems to be right around $150, and you can find some decent ones for that price if you know where to look. Granted, a .22 doesn’t have a lot of stopping power, but it’ll sting just the same, and the ammunition is far cheaper than the .357 Magnum or .45 ACP that my handguns consume.

          Good luck.

          1. You have a point. Miami prices are murder even for used guns. My Brother in Law lives outside Nashville and keeps finding great prices.

    1. People have no idea about what they have done. The young will suffer the Old Warriors will keep on fighting. 🙂

    2. The stronger the enemy, the bigger the challenge, the greater the legend. As long as I still exist, I will fight to be a part of that legend.

    1. I believe it was Alexander Fraser Tyler (or Tytler), but I believe that de Tocqueville quotes him in “On Democracy in America” (or Democracy in America, depending on which translation you prefer).

Either way, it was damn prescient of those fellas to foresee the troubles we will be facing. The really frightening future is what de Tocq saw as the logical ending to our form of democracy, run by a tyranny of the majority.
