CMP: You know those 1911s coming from abroad? You can’t afford them, sucker!

Say what again? How much?

Pricing, Cooper said, is expected to be between $800-$1,000 for shooters.

“It’s hard to say exactly, but a good guess will be around $1,000 minimum,” he said. “One reason for this is that the 1911 is a very valuable pistol. Even though they may be shot out or busted up, we don’t want them falling into the hands of people who will just leave them in a glove box. We want a perceived value — more of an heirloom. We don’t want them considered a standard sidearm. All we need is to have someone commit a liquor store robbery with one and then we’ll be held accountable.

CMP General Manager: What you can expect to pay for a surplus 1911.

Dear Mr. Cooper: Unless you present written and photographic proof that $1,000 1911 was used by either Audie Murphy or John Basilone to mow down the enemy in World War Two, you are out of your frigging mind.

We got us an elitist asshole pissing on the people that called, wrote, emailed and eventually voted so those guns could come home.

Wise in Alabama

The “anti-racism” activist Tim Wise went to Twitter to voice his opinion on the Alabama Senate race.

What a stupid, god-damned, fuck – shit he is.

What the fuck does he think white people do in Alabama?  Drink moonshine and spray black people with firehoses? Is his knowledge of the Alabama economy any more current than 1865?

From where I am sitting in Alabama, I am within a 20 minute drive of Toyota Motor Manufacturing where most of Toyota’s truck and SUV engines are made, Polaris Industries, Boeing, Lockheed-Martin, Remington, Carpenter Technology powder metallurgy products, Raytheon, Cummings Aerospace, KBR, Bodycote, Nucor Steel, and of course NASA Marshall Space Flight Center, and US Army Redstone Arsenal.

If it goes into space, some part of it came out if came out of northern Alabama.  If it’s s Toyota and not a hybrid, some part of it came out of northern Alabama.   If it flies in defense of our nation, some part of it came out of northern Alabama. If it says Marlin, Bushmaster, DPMS, or Remington other than the Model 700 or Shotgun, it came out of northern Alabama.

Is this guy seriously suggesting that all of that be destroyed over a Senate election?

Can all of that be destroyed by one sniveling, self-hating, SJW dipshit organizing a boycott on Twitter?

I get that Roy Moore sucks.  Ignoring the allegations of sexual misconduct, he’s the type of grandstanding anti establishment figure that gives anti establishment types a bad name.

Doug Jones is a cookie cutter Democrat who could be from California or New England as easily as Alabama.

It’s a shitty choice.

Wise wants to destroy the livelihoods of hundreds of thousands of people, cripple this nation’s aerospace industry, and hold back defense and space exploration over it.

Fuck that guy.

A bit more on Stupid Training.

As you can imagine, the video of the instructor shooting at the ground near the student has been making the rounds among the Gun Community. In one of the discussions I saw in Social Media, somebody pointed out that possibly the very fucked up intention of the instructor was to “immunize” the student from the shock of a firearm, not his, was being discharged nearby. Basically to inject adrenaline to the exercise in order to develop a sort of immunity when shit really happens.

This I understand. And the way he went about it is still 1,000% wrong, dangerous and the instructor should be asked to move to Great Britain.

Do you want to simulate stress? Do you want to simulate stress while going pew-pew? Join an Action Shooting Club. Go shoot IDPA or USPSA or Cowboy or whatever other sport has a bunch of people shooting on the move on the same morning or afternoon. You will be sick and immunized of hearing shots go off over and over.

“But Miguel, that is not enough! I mean the guy was shooting right there! That is some serious stress!” Well, guess what, if you really want to feel the shock of the shot up close and personal, become a Range Officer or Safety Officer for the above-mentioned sports.

That would be the guy holding the little blue box called Shot Timer.  You are supposed to be at arm’s length of the shooter at all times to avoid a mishap with the firearm. Now, both individuals in the photo are experienced shooters but you know what it is stressful? Having a totally new shooter participating in his/her first shoot-and-move Course of Fire. That will shoot plenty of epinephrine in your bloodstream.

And goes without saying (Lord knows I have expressed in this blog many times before) that regular participation in Action Shooting Sports is a great way to practice your gun handling skills and marksmanship on the move and under simulated stress.

So, to other instructors out there who want to be “edgy” and “Oh-So-Tactical” to be different from others: Don’t be. Keep your students safe at all times, be innovative but not dangerous and stupid. Firearms training has inherent risks and it has been the strict adherence to safety practices what has kept the accidents to a statistically insignificant number.

It is not “IDPA will get you killed on the streets” but that shit you are “teaching” will get one of your students killed in your range.

Heed the warning.

Natural Outcomes

Remember everything I said yesterday about the natural laws of bureaucracy?

Well, it was national news when the entire graduating senior class of Washington D.C.’s Ballou High School applied to college.  The school is in a poorer section of D.C. and is overwhelming a minority school.

Turns out, the entire administration of the school cheated.

But all the excitement and accomplishment couldn’t shake one question from Butcher’s mind:

How did all these students graduate from high school?

“You saw kids walking across the stage, who, they’re nice young people, but they don’t deserve to be walking across the stage,” Butcher says.

WAMU and NPR talked to nearly a dozen current and recent Ballou teachers — as well as four recent graduates — who tell the same story: Teachers felt pressure from administration to pass chronically absent students, and students knew the school administration would do as much as possible to get them to graduation.

“It’s oppressive to the kids because you’re giving them a false sense of success,” says one current Ballou teacher, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to protect her job.

The quality of education at Ballou for those who graduated was about as good as you could exepct.

Last school year, 3 percent of Ballou students tested met reading standards on citywide standardized exams. Almost none met math standards.

D.C. is about 40 miles from Baltimore, and politically, even closer than that.

Based on 2017 state test scores, 13 out of 39 high school had zero students proficient in math, the report said. Another six schools had only one percent of their students who tested proficient in math.

Doing the math, that means that 49% of Baltimore schools can’t produce a statistically significant number of students with proficiency in math.

According to the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, a proficient student has certain mathematical abilities including “apply the mathematics they know to solve problems arising in everyday life, society, and the workplace.”

Given what we know about Baltimore and Ballou, virtually none of the students that graduate have the ability to solve everyday math problems, like… how to make exact change, calculate a percent tip, or figure out the square feet of area given the dimensions of a room.

These kids are unemployable by the lowest standards of any industry.

This is what happens when you graduate a city that can’t do basic math.

I guarantee that these kids did learn three things in Baltimore and D.C. schools.

Not how to read, write, or do math, of course, that’s hard.

They learned that when they are unemployed, living in poverty and misery, that:

  1. It’s because they are black/brown/[victim minority status].
  2. America is racist.
  3. It’s all Trump’s/the Republican’s fault.

Welcome to the laws of bureaucracy in action.

But never forget, police officer and even detectives are not the gun experts other wants us to believe they are. This is how the rumor mill gets started:

And yes, there is still old questions left and a couple of new ones. We are gonna have to wait. At least it is not Las Vegas PD doing the investigation.
