Earlier tonight, the wife and I were watching some Trivia channels in YouTube and one in particular, they played an intro song and you had 15 seconds to identify the show. We were doing the 50s and failing miserably when one song came on and I immediately recognized it. Now mind you, I was not alive in the 1950s nor started to watch TV in English till I initially moved in the 80s, but my brain identified the song in a roundabout way.

Who’s the leader of the club
That’s made for you and me
M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E
Hey! there, Hi! there, Ho! there
You’re as welcome as can be

Before the song got to the spelling part, I was shouting The Mickey Mouse Club!!!!!! And the image that came to my mind at the same time?

I told my wife how I came about with the answer. She shook her head and gave me that look that usually means “My mother was right when she warned me about you.

OK, so I am not right in the head. sue me.

  1. Old enough to remember seeing “Mickey Mouse Club” in glorious Black and White. Also been known to hum the theme around the office when the “good idea fairy” infected management with a remarkably stupid idea.

  2. FMJ is one of my favorite movies. The first half, the boot camp part is so real it keeps me up at night after I watch it. That’s the boot camp I went through. DI’s smacking the recruits was a common thing. I even had on stick his sword in my chest and threaten to run me through. After boot camp, Mickey Mouse was a good theme song for the unit I ended up in. We were barley out of SE Asia and peace in the Marines sucks.
