I figured that after almost 30 years of regular membership, it was time to get serious. The NRA is having great discounts to join before the end of the year at all level and the rates are going up in January. Go join or upgrade.
I know, that will make me officially a part of the No Fly/Terror Watch list.

I took that plunge about this time last year. $300 and payable at $25 a month. I ended up making 3 payments. I originally joined in 1981. Welcome to the club.
I’m interested in becoming a member, my only holdup is getting put on a list. Does anyone have any experience with this?
Back in the dark Clinton Years, there were the multiple lawsuits against firearm companies to pay for “hospital bills due to gun violence.” Some mayors from several big cities including dear Miami thought it would be cool to add the NRA and its members to the lawsuits so they started to make noise and demand that the FBI & the Attorney General (IIRC) get the list of NRA members. The NRA said it was ready to go all the way to SCOTUS and sue the cities for clear violations to the First Amendment.
Pretty much every constitutional lawyer told the mayors that unless they were ready to pay the NRA several millions dollars, to quit their bullshit because no way in hell they were going to win.
The mayors tucked tail and shut up. Not quite sure about the timing, but the lawsuits against the manufacturers had began to go south against the mayors or started to go about the same time. Either way, it snowballed and we ended up with the law against frivolous lawsuits.

I was also wondering, if anyone has ever been put on a no-fly list or subjected to surveillance as a result of being an NRA member?
Supposedly the NRA is VERY tight-lipped about it’s members. It WILL take money from companies (like Lifelock) to have the NRA send ads and offers to members, but it doesn’t sell or reveal your name.
Sure you will be getting mailers from the Post office, so they COULD track you if they want to….but what’s the point, NRA membership is so diverse and huge any government action against it would be a disaster.
I’ve been a life member for years now….after the push for background checks post Oregon shooting (where background checks were in place) I upgraded to endowment member.

Membership doesn’t currently put you on the no fly list, or otherwise mess with your life or security clearance.
While the NRA doesn’t sell lists of CURRENT members, I’ve been told that they have in the past sold lists of FORMER, now lapsed, members. All the more reason for life membership.
