At WWDC, Tim Cook takes a moment to talk about Black Lives Matter and coronavirus

Apple CEO Tim Cook kicked off this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference addressing two major events affecting the world at the moment: the Black Lives Matter movement and the worldwide conronavirus pandemic.

Cook said Monday that it’s time for the US to “aim higher to build a future that lives up to our ideals” of equality — and to take action. He highlighted Apple’s Racial Equity and Justice Initiative, which will distribute $100 million to “challenge systemic barriers that limit opportunity for communities of color in the critical areas of education, economic equality and criminal justice.” And he also talked about the company’s new developer entrepreneur camp for black developers.

Apple published this announcement on their website:

Apple launches major new Racial Equity and Justice Initiative projects to challenge systemic racism, advance racial equity nationwide

Apple today announced a set of major new projects as part of its $100 million Racial Equity and Justice Initiative (REJI) to help dismantle systemic barriers to opportunity and combat injustices faced by communities of color. These forward-looking and comprehensive efforts include the Propel Center, a first-of-its-kind global innovation and learning hub for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs); an Apple Developer Academy to support coding and tech education for students in Detroit; and venture capital funding for Black and Brown entrepreneurs. Together, Apple’s REJI commitments aim to expand opportunities for communities of color across the country and to help build the next generation of diverse leaders.

What did that $100 million dollars buy them?

Fuck ’em.  Let it burn.

  1. Danegeld doesn’t work unless you pay the actual Danes. Even then it’s only a temporary solution. King Alfred knew that.

  2. The communities in question need to value education first. Until that happens, no amount of money thrown at education will imorove results.

  3. On 28 May 2020, BLM/Antifa/Leftist trash torched Max It Pawn in Mnpls. Almost two months later, investigators found human remains in the wreckage.

IANAL, but arson of an occupies structure is a no-joke forcible felony and the attack can be repulsed under basic castle doctrine self defense.

When these aholes start lighting up shit again, which they are about to do soon, they should be on the receiving of a ton of m193 and green tip.

    1. In NH, arson can be dealt with by deadly force. That doesn’t depend on the structure being occupied, and there is no requirement at all for the user of the defensive force to consider whether it is or not.
This is as it should be.

  4. As a long time Apple user and fan-boy it makes me sick to hear this leftist mouthpiece virtue signal his inane banalities. Stick to making your products and shut the fuck up. The stockholders should force him out.

  5. They have this ED&I thing where I work. The only barrier to minorities in tech is IQ and culture. They said they realize they have to start in high school. That made me laugh. As if by high school they’ve done all the math courses needed, and can read/write well enough but somehow the system won’t let them go further. What bollocks. If the parents don’t push them in grade school, they’ll be behind the 8 ball all their life.

What you find in tech, especially with coding, when you first start you’re competing with self taught people that code for fun. If you have the fundamentals you can catch up. If.

The other funny thing is the whole effort where I work seemed to get poached by the E and the I. Last presentation I attended was a black woman, two trannies, and an old white woman, probably a lesbian. I honestly felt bad for the black lady. There is a need in her community for mentorship, especially to help those that can be helped. The others simply pile on.

When there are dollars flowing there will be mits grabbing.

Only one rule: Don't be a dick.
