I am sure some of you have seen this, if not, please watch it.

Now, it is a great demonstration in not only the weaknesses of each device but the knowledge and skill of Deviant Ollam and his team.  But does it apply in regular, every day life?  I had discussions in Social Media with people who refuse to secure firearms because “anything can be opened, so why waste the money.”  Yes, apparently the theft of a gun from a car is covered by some insurance or something.

We have seen that most of the car burglaries are people who spent all of 39 seconds inside the vehicle and grabbing at whatever they could that was not nailed down. And that is after they found the car door unlocked which is half the battle. Tweakers are got going to spend time and money on buying picks and assorted locksmithing tool to rip off the change in the center console of an unlocked car. They want an easy acquisition with little trouble and if they find something valuable, the better.

So, we use our cheap box out of sight and inside a locked car with alarm when we go to a Gun Free Zone. We layer our security knowing that if they know we can make them waste time and call attention, they will probably seek am easier target.

The same applies to kids. depending on their age, you will need to tailor gun storage. While the simple car Tweaker Box will be enough for 4 and under at home (providing you hide the frigging key well), but safer and more difficult devices will be needed as they grow old enough to be properly trained and specially if they are going to have friends coming over.

The first rule of security id the proper application of common sense.

  1. We use the Snap Safe XXL size box and I chose the combination lock.
The included cable is looped around a seat support and the entire setup is out of sight.
As you said, it is reasonably secure when we must stow a pistol in the car.

  2. Stupid people breed like flies. Have to keep replacin em. Never understood the logic. I dont want to deal with the aftermath of stupid gettin ahold of one of my guns.

Only one rule: Don't be a dick.
