Florida: the derangement over DeSantis continues its crescendo

So there is no doubt who gets the vaccine first in the Sunshine State, Governor DeSantis issued an executive order. Unless you are dead, isolated or Liberal, you know that the ones more affected by the Wuhan Virus are seniors 65 and older who comprise 80% IIRC.

Of course, since it is DeSantis, he is wrong.

before the vaccine, whatever he did was literally killing the grandmothers and grandfathers of Florida. Now that there is a vaccine, they have shifted to “fuck the grannies.”

But truly, the pharma companies still need to develop a new vaccine mentioned by another commenter of the thread.

Preach it, brother!

The bureaucracy ALWAYS protects itself

This is Pournelle’s Iron Law of Bureaucracy states that.  The bureaucracy always protects itself.

Even from COVID the bureaucracy protects itself.

This is why AOC was at the front of the line for the vaccine.

This is why it was a bipartisan effort to take out Trump.

Democrats and Republicans might fight amongst themselves, but they will unite as one to protect the Bureaucracy when an outsider threatens it.

This is why they declare themselves and the restaurants and places they like to be essential and your livelihood to be locked down.

The bureaucracy always protects itself.

Great order, great Trump, and because of it I’ll side with Antifa for once

From the Whitehouse:

Executive Order on Promoting Beautiful Federal Civic Architecture

By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, it is hereby ordered as follows:

Section 1. Purpose. Societies have long recognized the importance of beautiful public architecture. Ancient Greek and Roman public buildings were designed to be sturdy and useful, and also to beautify public spaces and inspire civic pride. Throughout the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, public architecture continued to serve these purposes. The 1309 constitution of the City of Siena required that “[w]hoever rules the City must have the beauty of the City as his foremost preoccupation . . . because it must provide pride, honor, wealth, and growth to the Sienese citizens, as well as pleasure and happiness to visitors from abroad.” Three centuries later, the great British Architect Sir Christopher Wren declared that “public buildings [are] the ornament of a country. [Architecture] establishes a Nation, draws people and commerce, makes the people love their native country . . . Architecture aims at eternity[]”

In the 1950s, the Federal Government largely replaced traditional designs for new construction with modernist ones. This practice became official policy after the Ad Hoc Committee on Federal Office Space proposed what became known as the Guiding Principles for Federal Architecture (Guiding Principles) in 1962. The Guiding Principles implicitly discouraged classical and other traditional designs known for their beauty, declaring instead that the Government should use “contemporary” designs.

The Federal architecture that ensued, overseen by the General Services Administration (GSA), was often unpopular with Americans. The new buildings ranged from the undistinguished to designs even GSA now admits many in the public found unappealing. In Washington, D.C., new Federal buildings visibly clashed with the existing classical architecture. Some of these structures, such as the Hubert H. Humphrey Department of Health and Human Services Building and the Robert C. Weaver Department of Housing and Urban Development Building, were controversial, attracting widespread criticism for their Brutalist designs.

It is time to update the policies guiding Federal architecture to address these problems and ensure that architects designing Federal buildings serve their clients, the American people. New Federal building designs should, like America’s beloved landmark buildings, uplift and beautify public spaces, inspire the human spirit, ennoble the United States, command respect from the general public, and, as appropriate, respect the architectural heritage of a region. They should also be visibly identifiable as civic buildings and should be selected with input from the local community.

Classical and other traditional architecture, as practiced both historically and by today’s architects, have proven their ability to meet these design criteria and to more than satisfy today’s functional, technical, and sustainable needs. Their use should be encouraged instead of discouraged.

Those were just sections.  Read the whole thing, it’s beautiful.  A true condemnation of ugly Federal buildings.

I’ve posted these videos before but I’ll do it again because of their relevance.

All of this is absolutely true.

Think of this video that’s gone viral.

Ugliness has become the medium for people who cannot create beauty.  They know deep inside they cannot contribute beauty to the world so they aggressively attack beauty and promote ugliness.

This girl doesnt want to put in the effort be traditionally beautiful so she goes out of her way to make herself ugly and yells at you and insults you if you reject her ugliness.  She is a modern art masterpiece. She is the personification of Brutalism.

This is why the Left attacks Beethoven and classical music as racist.

This is so beautiful it brings a tear to your eye.

But this ugly abomination (sorry):

Is a important “feminist anthem.”

We need more public beauty.  We need to exalt beauty again.

This is where I will side with Antifa.

I’d encourage them to burn down all the concrete slab Brutalist buildings so they can be replaced with classical architecture.

That shouldn’t be too hard.

Brutalism was made popular by a rich, white, man and Nazi sympathizer.

Maybe of we can get them to set fire to a few modern art galleries as well, we’ll really be onto doing some good.

Layer and Layers of Editorial Malpractice: Seniors dropping like flies according to the Miami Herald

The headline:

The rate at which Florida’s nursing home residents died of COVID-19 more than doubled during the Thanksgiving holiday period, according to a new AARP report,

I beg your pardon? The AARP? The highly politica-sided with the Democrats American Association of Retired Persons? The same AARP that has sided with Gun Control since the Clinton Administration? That AARP?

“During”? I thought we were going to have people dying in swarms after Thanksgiving because we did not eat the turkey with our masks on while superspreading family gatherings.

In the three-week period before and after the November holiday, 4.7 out of every 1,000 nursing home residents died in the state, an increase from 2.3 out of 1,000 in the four weeks before Nov. 15. The analysis also showed an increase of cases among residents and staff in the same period, until Dec. 6.

I am confused now. Was it during or after Thanksgiving now?

Over 7,900 residents and staff at elder-care facilities have died of COVID-19 so far in Florida, according to state totals.

I saw you mention that earlier. Interesting that you feel the need to add staff as if the elderly were festering units of contamination killing the medical personnel.

And then, in what probably would be treated as “See? We do balanced reporting” we find this quote:

Still, Florida is still well below the national average, a death rate of 15.3 per 1,000 residents. South Dakota had the deadliest nursing home rate, at 59.1 out of 1,000 residents.

Wait, what? National average for residents only is 15.3 and Florida is 4.7 and that is including the personnel to have an inflated number? Florida’s nursing home deaths is 3 times lower than the national average and yet your headline insinuates that we are murdering our seniors?

This is not a misunderstanding or Interns fucking up a headline while the senior editors are vacationing in The Keys. This looks purposely done and I believe because the Herald is invested in getting rid of Governor DeSantis and his people. Good virus stats in a state that is pretty much not under lock-down rules runs against the directives from  the Up North Intelligentsia to keep the townfolks locked inside their house and accepting the wisdom of their betters  while they royally ignore the rules they impose.

Maybe this is the reason the Miami Herald is down to offer itself cheaper than a meth hooker on a Monday night.

I’ll have a drink the day they announce they are closing their doors for good.  I really think their reputation can’t be saved. I think I would trust a shady Craiglist post more than anything coming out of them.

We are going to lose every war from here on out

This is from our newest branch of the service, Space Force.

That is badass.  I totally support Space Force.

Unfortunately, this is also from Space Force.

I know that this is the Space Force, which operates under the Air Force, and that the Air Force is not the Army, but they both operate under the DOD and if this mentally affects the Space Force then it affects all the other branches.

If that is true, our future of war is to lose every conflict from here on out.

“Sir, the enemy is advancing.  We’re taking heavy casualties.  Most of our officers have been killed or wounded, command and control is breaking down.”

“I need to know the races and genders of all the officers we  still have in the field.”

“But Sir, our troops are pinned down.  We don’t have time for that.”

“Solider!  I will not allow this division to engage in a counteroffensive without proper racial and gender diversity in its leadership.  Can you imagine how the historians will record this if we achieve victory lead by just while males?”

Or maybe:

“Sir, our digital systems are under attack.”

“How are we responding?”

“Lt. Smith thinks that he’s identified the code they are using to penetrate our firewall.  He believes he can stop it.”

“Are there any other suggestions?  Lt. Smith is a white male, and we’ve amplified those voices for too long in this country.  Have all your Genderqueer and BIPOC cyber-security specialists mobilize to counter this threat right away.”

If our college system and corporations are any indications, once the phrase “diversity and inclusion” becomes part of your mission statement, you are on the fast decline to failure.

It is eminently possible to have diversity when you focus on quality.  When you focus on diversity and inclusion, everything else suffers.

“Go woke, go broke” seems to be an absolute law.  It’s one thing when it takes out a for-profit, private corporation.  When “go woke, go broke” is applied to our national defense, it is all of us that are harmed when our national security is compromised.
