J. Kb. beat me to the video and if anything, I go back to being disgusted but not being surprised at the action of predators and low life people.

But there is a question nagging me: How come the pusher, Cadesha Michelle Bishop was not arrested the day of the attack? (IANAL) Setting the death aside, the push was  what? Aggravated assault? In Florida it would get an automatic felony arrest just for the pushing and enhancement of penalty for the death. I checked Nevada’s code and it does not seem to have the same Draconian laws, but I may have found them.

Now the question is: Why was not the woman arrested and charged with the initial crime? Even if it was a misdemeanor, she should have ended in cuffs and the obligatory mugshot when the crime happened back in March. In my opinion, the answer was simply racial politics and you can see it in the video: people who had been bearing the verbal abuse of a black woman saw what happened and still refused even to yell ate her for the push. They remained cowardly silent lest be accused of racism is what I believe.

A white woman pushes anybody of any color in that manner and you would have at least one or two people screaming at the attacker, getting on the phones and making sure the local constable gets to give a ride downtown to the violator. But in the current successful climate of racial shield against law and order, some blacks believe that they can ignore the law because the use of the race card will be enough to protect them and this case proves it: It took the death to be classified as a murder and supported with video so law enforcement could procure an arrest.

We cannot allow this to continue. There cannot try to maintain an unbalance like this or we risk everybody deciding to also avail themselves to ignoring the law and become predators themselves to have an even killing field.

And suddenly, both the race card and the victim card are no longer accepted in the new society and your privilege is now a nice refrigerated compartment in the local morgue.

I want to highlight this story out of Las Vegas.

Video of man shoved off bus released in Vegas murder case

Police in Las Vegas have released security video they say shows a woman shoving a 74-year-old man off a public bus after witnesses say he asked her to be nice to other passengers.

The video shows Serge Fournier landing face-first on a sidewalk east of downtown on March 21. He died April 23.

The Clark County coroner ruled Fournier’s death a homicide resulting from his injuries

Woman charged with murder for fatally pushing elderly man from Las Vegas bus

The video, which did not include sound, showed Fournier speaking to Bishop, then getting behind him and — as the bus stopped and the exit door opened — allegedly shoving him with both hands off the bus. Fournier, who was holding a foldable shopping cart, landed face-first on the pavement and hit his head, according to the warrant.

Fournier “was pushed with enough force that he never touched any of the steps,” the arrest warrant stated. “[He] went directly from the bus aisle platform to the concrete sidewalk. His head landed approximately eight feet from the bus doorway.”

Even though this case did not involve a punch, what we see here is the same as what we’ve seen in so many other cases.  The victim hits his head on the concrete during a fall caused by an assault and dies days or weeks later from a traumatic brain injury.

The perpetrator, in this case, is a black woman.  Showing that under the right circumstances, it does not take an overwhelming amount of strength to kill.  Simply shoving someone off a slightly elevated platform is enough to cause death.

Real life is not like the movies.  You don’t bump your head then wake up just fine a few minutes or hours later and go on about your day.  You bump your head and your brain swells inside your skull and you die in the hospital a week or month later.

It is time the law reflects the reality of the dangers of bare-handed physical assault.

I used to like Tucker Carlson.  It seems that he is going down the path of Glenn Beck, sliding into populist insanity.

A few days ago he did a bit backing Bernie and AOC in an “anti-loan shark bill” which would cap interest rates at 15%.

I get it.  Predatory loans are awful.  I watched what payday loans and title loans did to the poor in South Dakota.  Those people are on the same level as Pawn Brokers for scum sucking garbage humans who make their living ripping off the poor.

But……

The basics of baking are this:

Banks lend money.  They charge interest for the money they lend.  That is how banks make money.  Some of that money is then given to the people who have invested in the back or put money in the bank, which is where the banks get their money to begin with.

When banks lend money, there is always the risk it won’t get paid back.

The riskier the loan, the more the bank charges in interest, so they can make as much money off the loan as they can in as short a period of time.  Also, as a risk pool, the high interest it gets from the people who pay back their loans is a hedge against the percent of loans that default.

For personal finances, a person’s credit score is the metric used to gauge the ability of the borrower to pay back a loan over an extended period of time.  The higher the credit score, the less risky the loan, the lower the interest rate, as the bank will make its money over the long term length of the loan.

Poor people are the riskiest borrowers so have the highest interest rates.  That sucks, but that’s how it works.

So what happens when interest rates get capped at 15%?

The same thing as when the minimum wage gets set to $15/hour.

Poor people get screwed.

Lenders stop lending money to risky borrowers.  The poor and low income earners will go from high interest rates loans to no loans.  They simply won’t be able to borrow money from legal sources.

Credit limits would be reduced for all but the richest people.

I guarantee the banks will push for reforms to bankruptcy law that makes it harder for people to declare bankruptcy or make bank loans like student loans.

There is no free lunch here.

To me, this seems like the Obamacare scam of banking.  An idea designed to make banking and credit so much worse than it is now, that it will create an upswell in people calling for nationalizing the banks.

So why is Tucker supporting this?

Then I saw this:

I get it.  I don’t want another protracted war in the Middle East.  I don’t want 20 years of occupation in Iran.  Not to mention the casualties that would result in that war.

That will suck.

But Iran supplies weapons and training to every Islamic terrorist cell in the world at this point.  Iran supplied weapons, especially armor piercing ones, to the Iraqi insurgency.  They arm Hamas and Hezbollah.  They helped the Syrian mass murdering tyrant Assad.  They are arming the Islamist groups in Africa and Asia murdering Christians.

The tormented our Navy and commercial shipping vessels in international waters off their coast.

It is the heart of the Axis of Evil.

So why engage in isolationism.  This is on par with wanting to ignore the Empire of Japan or Nazi Germany in 1940.

They are clearly attacking our allies and being a thorn in our side.

We got out of our isolationism with the bombing of Pearl Harbor.

What Tucker here seems to want is peace, right up until Iran drops a Nuke on Tel-Aviv or puts one in a ship that goes off in the Port of New York.

If he doesn’t want American boots on the ground, fine.  Fighting a ground war against the Iranian Republican Guard will be a hard fight.

Then we better be prepared to deal with Iran in other ways.

Personally, I favor saturating Iran with so much ionizing radiation that the populations’ DNA is no longer capable of replication.

What Tucker wants will only result in an American and/or Israeli city being irradiated, and that is unacceptable.

I can’t believe that Democrats don’t want to go on Fox News, because at this point, the highest rated Fox News host is a Bernie Bro.

Scope is a charity that helps disabled people in the UK.  They operate shops in the UK, similar to Goodwill, to raise money for the disabled.  People donate their old household goods for resale.

I know the movement is to cut the cord and go Internet only, but we like our DirecTV which being satellite I say is not cord, so there. But here is an example of why it may be the company shooting itself in the corporate foot.

The photo on top was taken in 1,999 after Hurricane Irene visited us and dumped an unholy amount of rain on us.  We had recently moved, mom was visiting from Venezuela and got to enjoy (not really) a storm like that for the first time. Please notice where the yellow arrow is pointing, you may able see something squarish just under the surface of the water.

Now, this second photo was taken minutes ago and the arrow is pointed at the same location.

That is the Xfinity cable junction/distribution box.  Yes, built on the shore of a lake in South Florida. This is the backyard, not the front of the house.

When I wanted to upgrade my High Speed internet, ATT which had been my DSL provider at a very low speed did not have plans soon to upgrade the area. I canceled and went with Xfinity because they provided 20 Mbps at a price that was “cheap” but only for 12 months. After that we were aware that we were to pay more, but that is another ball of yarn.

When the cable guy came to install the internet, he went crazy looking for the box. My brain finally remembered and  I took him back and asked him if that could be the box. He looked at me like I was drunk and having sex with an ostrich, but he jumped the fence to check it out: it was the box. He muttered cusses and invocations about who was the moron who came up with such a brilliant location, took pictures for a report swearing up and down that this was going to be moved to a better location, but in the meantime, he would do the installation for my home. If you enlarge, you can see the orange cable still running out and through the fence.

I wanted to quit Xfinity because the service was spotty every time it rained hard (no shit), it was miserably expensive because they charge even for the labels of the frigging modem they rent you and would not stop calling me to upgrade to cable TV phone and Internet. About a year and a half, ATT called (surprise!) and informed me they went fiber optics in my area and could offer me service. It turns out I could get double the speed I was getting for half the price so I changed.

Twenty frigging years and they still have not moved the stupid box from its seasonal underwater location.  I’ll stick with DirecTV and Amazon Prime.

I am amazed by the fortuitousness of this news.

Yesterday I wrote a post about the New York Daily News being snarky about the legislative end to a nunchuck ban in Arizona, and how New York City was the last place that should snark about this because of their knife laws.

Readers of this blog know that I have covered the legal travesty that is New York City’s tyrannical enforcement of the New York gravity knife law.

So it struck me that I saw this headline:

State Legislature Votes to Remove Gravity Knifes from List of Weapons a Person Can be Charged for Carrying

The state legislature has voted to remove gravity knives from the list of weapons a person can be charged for carrying.

This comes less than two months after a federal judge banned the knives in the city.

Advocates have said that a law allowing someone to be charged with a felony for carrying such a knife targeted working class people and people of color for prosecution.

In a statement, the city police department urged Gov. Andrew Cuomo to veto the legislation.

“Gravity knives are in reality rapidly-deployable combat knives. With more than 1400 stabbings and slashing in New York City so far this year, we need Albany to work with the NYPD to keep crime low and people safe,” an NYPD statement told NY1.

Of course Governor Cuomo did.  He’s a fucking tyrant that sees himself as the rightful heir and Imperator of the Empire State.

He’s backed by the second in command of New York State, the towering fucking communist, Mayor Bill de Blasio.

NY lawmakers try again to decriminalize common work knives

Two New York lawmakers introduced gravity knife reform bills on Wednesday for the third year in a row, hoping to make adjustments in a law that currently criminalizes common work knives that can be flipped open.

Assemblymember Dan Quart (Upper East Side) and Sen. Robert Jackson (Upper West Side) introduced twin bills that would remove references of gravity knives as dangerous weapons from the penal law listing firearms, switchblades, bludgeons and other dangerous weapons.

This is exactly the kind of thing a legislature should be doing, improving people’s lives by expanding rights.

“The idea that a foldable knife is any more dangerous than a fixed-blade knife is absurd,” Quart said in a release. “The ban does nothing to ensure public safety and is instead a false pretense for overzealous prosecutors to lock up people of color.”

A Legal Aid Society report analyzing caseload data between Jan. 1 and June 28, 2018 shows that NYPD and local district attorneys overwhelmingly target New Yorkers of color, who account for 88 percent of arrests for gravity knife possession. Most of those arrested were men.

Brooklyn’s 79th Precinct (Bedford-Stuyvesant) and the Bronx’s 49th Precinct have the highest rate of these arrests.

So the current law is being applied in a horrifically racist way.  Trust that it is white Democrats in power who enforce institutionalized racism that hurts hardworking minorities.

New York’s current gravity knife law makes a blade illegal if it can be opened using gravity or centrifugal force (such as “flicking” the knife open). Almost any knife, however, with enough attempts, can eventually be flicked open in this way.

This ambiguity is enough to send law-abiding citizens to jail, according to the Legal Aid Society, which represents roughly five gravity knife cases a day, or about 1,800 such cases each year.

Only one state senator voted against the legislation last year — former Sen. Marty Golden of Brooklyn.

Only one, that shows how seriously the legislature takes this.  Also Senator Golden is a piece of shit.

Mayor Bill de Blasio, the District Attorneys Association of the State of New York and Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance aggressively lobbied the governor to oppose the measure, Quart’s office said. Cuomo has vetoed the legislation twice.

Fucking tyrants love the current bullshit law because it allows them to abuse their authority, pumping up arrest numbers and collecting fines doing the easy work of busting people who don’t think they are breaking the law instead of going after real criminals.

The lawmakers are hoping that the third time’s a charm.

Three times the legislature has tried to help the people of New York out from under an abusive law and three times Cuomo has kept his boot on the throat of New Yorkers.

Redmond Haskins, a Legal Aid Society spokesperson, said Legal Aid’s analysis shows that gravity knives were used in the commission of violent crime in less than one percent of cases. Canes, crutches, glass bottles, baseball bats and other household items were alleged to have been used in the commission of violent crime at the same rate as, or more frequently than, gravity knives.

Gravity knives are the assault weapons of the knife world.  Hardly used in crime but a focus of the wrath of politicians who know shit about them.

Some unsuspecting knife owners are arrested at coffee shops across the street from their construction sites, he said. Others are nabbed on their way to work as stage hands, artists or building superintendents. One Parks Department employee was apprehended while working as an arborist for Prospect Park.

“They use these knives as work tools,” Haskins told the Brooklyn Eagle. “They get letters from their employers saying they need the knives on the job.”

Every time Cuomo or de Blasio talks about helping working class New Yorkers, this is how you know it’s bullshit.  You can’t help working class people by throwing them in jail or fining them broke for having the tools they use for work.

In almost all of the cases Legal Aid Society has represented, the gravity knife possession charge was the “top charge,” Haskins said. That means the knives weren’t used or possessed while committing another offense.

“New York City is the only part of the state where police go after people like this,” he added.

Fuck New York City, that progressive hellhole run of six foot, five inch stack of communist dog shit.

This reporter walked to a corner hardware store in Downtown Brooklyn on Thursday and easily purchased a knife similar to one possessed by numerous defendants in gravity knife cases.

“It is profoundly unjust that people are arrested and can lose their jobs, homes, children, or be deported, simply for carrying a tool they need for work,” said Lisa Schreibersdorf, executive director of Brooklyn Defender Services, in a statement. “New York state must decriminalize these basic tools once and for all.”

Yes they should, and the Governor backed by the Mayor of NYC is going to fuck over working New Yorkers again.

A federal judge ruled today that New York’s notoriously nonsensical law criminalizing “gravity knives”—which groups have said for years is used by New York City to selectively prosecute people, especially the working class and minorities, for carrying common folding knives—is unconstitutionally vague.

in response to a lawsuit by New York City sous chef Joseph Cracco, who was arrested and fined for carrying a pocket knife, U.S. District Judge Paul Crotty ruled that New York’s law banning gravity knives afforded police and prosecutors almost unlimited discretion to arrest and prosecute people for carrying knives commonly sold in stores across the state.

“The court recognizes that the District Attorney must have discretion to prosecute or not to prosecute criminal matters,” Crotty wrote in his opinion and order. “The combination here, however, of a statute that does not specify how Cracco can identify a gravity knife and a a practice of prosecuting possession of gravity knives in an unclear and inconsistent manner provides police and prosecutors ‘virtually unlimited’ or ‘unfettered’ discretion to enforce the gravity knife statute. Under such circumstances, and with the lens of Cracco’s past prosecution and intended future conduct, the gravity knife statute is unconstitutionally vague.”

The Appeal is a legal newspaper that focuses on “on the most significant drivers of mass incarceration, which occur at the state and local level.”  They have a great article praising the new bill and why it should be passed.

NEW YORK LAWMAKER ANNOUNCES SWEEPING CHALLENGE TO GRAVITY KNIFE LAW
Opponents of the law say it unfairly targets people who need knives for work, and are battling it on multiple fronts.

So the current law is not enforceable, but New York City being New York City, thinks it is above Federal Law and continues to enforce it, so the New York legislature is trying to help the people of New York City.

The entire state legislature is working to ease the burden on working class New Yorkers, especially working class New Yorkers of color, and the Governor and NYC Mayor are continuing to crush them.

This is an amazing story.

Groups and organizations from as Left as the Village Voice, the ACLU, and the Public Defenders Association to as right as the NRA, to as libertarian as Reason have all backed a bill that is as overwhelmingly bipartisan and totally unanimous to stop New York City from abusing mainly working class minorities, and Governor Cuomo and Mayor Bill de Blasio are going to veto it for the third time.

This is the oppression that Cuomo and de Blasio have in their hearts.

New Yorkers, you need to act accordingly.

Americans, you need to remember this when these fucking monsters decide to run for federal office.
